    Hi All,

Hopefully I am posting in the right place here!

The wife's hair dryer is on its last legs. She bought it years ago from a hair salon, so its one of the professional ones that they use as opposed to a regular high-street brand.

Wanted to buy her a new one as a present, but have no idea about these things! Can anyone suggest a make / model that I should be looking for? Based on her original purchase, am guessing that I am looking for a professional brand / model.

    Any help or advice appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jab

You should buy one from a salon that sells dryers (I usually get mine in Peter Mark).
Ask if it's the model the stylists use on the floor and if it is, then it's the best one around at the moment.

Depending where u live, you may be able to pick up something in a hair supply shop eg. terrisales on abbey st.

Terrisales on Abbey St or Sally Salon Services at the back of the Red Cow will have the professional ones for sale....

    that's excellent, thanks everyone.

Can anyone suggest a brand or should I just ask for the "best" one. Am a little nervous asking for the best as last time I did that, I got sold a Remington straightner rather than a GHD!!

Parlux would prob be the best brand, I got one and it blows the head off me :D I have quite thick hair so it dries it pretty fast and is real easy to do a proper blow dry with

Generally the higher the wattage, the better. Look for a 1800W or 2000W.

Definitely go to Peter Marks for one! I got mine there and I absolutely LOVE it. Best hairdryer I've ever used!

They have a number of different ones, including the swanky expensive one that doesn't have a proper handle, but I work across the road from a Peter Marks salon and they said that one wasn't that great, so don't be fooled by the fact that it's more expensive. They said they all prefer the one I'm suggesting below.

Go for the mid-range one called the Turbo Stratus. It cost me about 50/55 euro and you can get it in silver, black, pink or blue! It's really powerful and I rarely have to use my GHD these days as I can style my hair perfectly with this dryer. It dries my hair super fast (I also have quite thick unruly hair) and I can't stand to go away without it. Not even for a weekend!

    Definitely gets my vote!
