Where do musicians here go in Limerick/Cork for repairs/set ups?

The input jack on my guitar is gone kinda dead, and I also wouldn't mind getting another good set up.

I can drop it in somewhere in Limerick or Cork. I want to know where/who does it for the best value.

This place seems more active than the Instruments forum, sorry.

James is the best - and its worth going out just to see his house - 20 years of work i think he said

He ain't cheap - but you get what you pay for

the guy in Mac curtain street is called Steve Nixon - sound guy but he rushes a bit - especially smaller jobs like wiring pickups

Trust me i know - I won't say which....but i worked in one of the guitar shops for 2 years so I've heard many peoples testimonies when it comes to peoples work

Another guy who was excellent and was the only one to touch an old hollowbody that needed re-wiring was that Belgian guy Chris that owned the house of music - really sound - did an excellent job on something that had been bodged (even by one of the big 3 boutique pickup makers)

There's also an English guy whose still upstairs in that old house of music building across from the opera house - he mainly does violins and acoustics - but he's a moody pri©k

same with the guy a few doors up from Crowleys - moody and unreliable

As with Crowleys themselves - don't know the guy who does it - but im sure he's part time only and will put other jobs before yours if the guitar was bought in crowley's

And finally - on Shandon street - well the arts building between the tower and the cheese museum

there's a guy in there - not sure bout his work - but he's sound out

What do you actually need done? :D

    For Limerick...

A german dude in Steamboat Music (not 100% sure if he's still there) called Marcus is who the guitarist in my band goes to for any work that needs to be done. I've seen his work with installing active pickups into a passive guitar and its pretty neat.

Dunno about instrument repairs, but I've brought various amps and mixers to Future Sound and Vision

Is he still around? Where can I contact him.

I suppose money doesn't matter too much. If they can keep it under 40 euros for a basic set up and fixing up the input jack that'd be great.
