Yup, it's horrendous. The cartoony graphics annoy me, it's supposed to be about war for God's sake!? The units are ridiculous, trained bears and dolphins... The plot is ridiculous. The maps are too small... Tiberium wars was much better. C&C Generals would still be my favourite of the series. Don't waste your cash Cully.

You're missing out if you ask me. That said if you're looking for a serious propeller-head strategy game then this isn't it that's for sure.

Nah not after a serious rts at all,im not great at the ould rts so maybe a less serious one may suit me.
Actually i must reinstall world in conflict ,i really enjoyed it online.

I see play.com have the C&C generals deluxe pack for 13 euro, also the C&C3 tiberian wars [the latest one before RA3] pretty cheap too.

Just watched a few video reviews and certainly they all speak of the cheesyness but also the fun factor.
I like the idea of co-op, and co-commander.
Im also partial to cartoony gfx.
I might pick this up afterall :)

I was in the multiplayer beta testing phase. Was alot of fun, some excellent balance amongst the races. Didnt get to try the single player but it seems to be following in line with the original Red Alert games albeit bringing in some awful cast choices along with some excellent ones.

It pretty much could go either way for most people. You'll probably get a good few hours of gameplay out of it but you might instantly deslike it. Personally, I'm waiting till I dont have to pay full price for it and then I'll probably pick it up :D

Im planning on picking this up this evening but first wanted to ask about micro management.
The Eurogamer review said the M management can be frustrating.
Is this the case or just another in the long list of dodgy eurogamer reviews? :)

It's definitely a factor alright, there are countless units per Tech level (there being 3 tech levels) all varying depending on the race in question, then each unit has a primary and secondary fire which are generally vital to winning a skirmish. This is made more confusing and requiring more micro management by the fact that most of the units abilities are not immediately obvious.

But playing through the single-player campaign should make the importance of each unit and their secondary abilities fairly obvious before jumping into multi-player.

My point being, yes it is important, but you quickly pick it up, especially if you start with single-player or co-op multiplayer to begin with.

And Game Trailers have a pretty good review on it, sums it up better than I could.

Also, did I mention it is endorsed by the Hoff? ;)

I picked it up Wednesday, didnt get to play till late lastnight as wednesday and thursday are our guilds Karazhan and Zul Aman raiding nights,i just love raiding :)

Played through the first 3 levels of soviet campaign, played one skirmish online which i lost then a skirmish against the computer.

I just love the zaney nature of the game, the fact it doesnt take itself serious is welcome.
Graphics are lovely but no nicer than world in conflict, having said that the water is stunning.
Gameplay wise its well... C&C which is a good thing.
So far im quite enjoying it ,im just terrible at rts games online.

Seems like a lot of people like the game. Doesn't float my boat, but hey, it's all a matter of taste. As I say, I'm waiting for Total War to get my strategy fix! :)

I'm loving Fallout 3 myself, haven't much time to play it, but it's great. Left 4 Dead is next on my list too! :)
