So it's back and quite a return :). The premiere, "Do-Over" was hilarious with too many moments to mention (Jack working his way back up from the mailroom constantly getting promoted, Jenna's Japanese commercial, the "inappropriate" items in Pete's office, the "do-over" itself, the list goes on...).

Liz and Jack refusing to take the soap opera act as far as kissing was hilarious too :).

Hopefully it'll find more of an audience this year, as it's kind of struggled in the ratings in the past - Tina Fey's SNL Sarah Palin skits have boosted her popularity lately and that may in fact help 30 Rock as well.

didn't think it was a great episode myself. The main plot was all right but i felt it relied too much on Jack for the laughs. Secondary plot was pretty crap iirc. Megan Mulally (i think thats her name) could have been a brilliant guest star but was underused I thought. Will arnett was great as always.

I'm glad its back but i hope it picks up from here

Liked this episode... I laughed alot.

Nice to see Megan Mullally not being a squeaky bitch too. She was actually very good.

Megan Mullally was used terribly, I hope they don't depend on guests too much , the first 4 episodes all have guest stars lined up. I've high hopes for Oprah though ("Please welcome Liz Lemooooooooooooooooon!")

Yep, she always annoyed the hell out of me on "Will & Grace", one of the main reasons I could never watch that show. Still, I agree with the other posters here that she was underused - she didn't bring anything to the show that any no-name could not have done.

And yes, this show is better when they use the core cast, rather than relying on stunt casting (though "Greenzo" last season was very funny and used both David Schwimmer and Al Gore to great effect).

Second episode of the season, "Believe in the Stars" was as good as the premiere. The fake Olympic events were hilarious (Tetherball, Synchronized Running, Octuples Tennis :D) and the whole plot it led to, with Jack trying to get Kenneth to behave immorally... I thought the way they used Oprah was very clever too and made for some very funny lines with Liz babling on while on the plane. And as usual plenty of smaller moments and one liners, too many to list (loved Liz's method of always getting out of Jury duty :)). I'm happy to have this show back.

I'm a bit disappointed with the third episode, "The one with the cast of 'Night Court'" (nice combo of the way "Friends" episode titles were structured and "Night Court" BTW) - Jennifer Aniston was pretty good as the completely bats**t crazy friend, but the rest of the episode and especially the "Night Court" bits just didn't seem that funny at all (maybe because I've never watched "Night Court")... hopefully it'll improve next week.

I really enjoyed S03E04. The one liners are slipped in so easily and you hardly have time to enjoy them before the next one comes along.

Yep, episode 4, "Gavin Volure" was quality stuff again... great one liners throughout the whole episode - Kenneth's ramblings about the vicious pigs, Liz's comments about starting a relationship 12 years in and loads of them from Jack again, like "I'm going to hit him harder than a bottle of whiskey at an Irish wake" :).

As the title of the thread mentions, it's US only for now (Thursday nights on NBC) - I don't think any Irish/UK network is showing it quite yet.

5th episode, "Reunion" was absolutely hilarious again... Loved the reversal of Liz thinking she was bullied to finding out she was the bully and Jack's "Larry" act (especially when she asked him why everyone thought he was their age when he is at least 16 years older than most of them). I also enjoyed the Tracy/Jenna rivalry with Kenneth (and his flashback of his own high school reunion :D).

And no stunt casting of guest stars this week! Good stuff all around.

Eh, 'Donna Moss' as Jack/Larry's ex ?

    Favourite line -
"I'd love to back to Princeton and wipe that smirk off Michelle Obama's face".

Christmas Special - to paraphrase Eamon Dunphy "a good show, but not a great show" ;)

Stand-out line "We fell out over the Jerry Garcia stamp. If I wanted to lick a hippy, I'd return Joan Baez's phone calls"

Yeah, not as outright funny an episode as some of the others this season, but pretty good. Loved Kenneth's line when asked how does he find poor people to help: "There are these Nigerians on the Internet that help me" :D.

And we now know that the past tense of "scam" is "scumped" :).

I think the quality is declining in Season 3. Season' One and Two were top notch, but so far this season seems to be relying heavily on guest stars, and I think it's hurting the show.

Not really, I think it's been pretty good but I do find that the guest stars don't really add anything - the same effect in most of the episodes could easily have been achieved with no-name actors. So in that effect, the "stunt casting" isn't really helping the show, but I don't think it's detracted much - it's still more about the nutty main cast in most cases, rather than the guest stars. Jack, Liz, Tracy and Kenneth can carry the whole thing on their own anyway...

"30 Rock" - won three Golden Globes - best TV comedy and best comedy actress and actor for Fey and co-star Alec Baldwin."

Any takers for the 30 Rock bandwagon ? There's plenty of room up here ;) !

That said, last weeks was just so-so.

Selma Hayek with plunging neckline doing the Macarena ? Yeah, baby :D !

I have never watched 30 Rock so was wondering just how funny it is? The only comedy shows from the states that I watch are Ugly Betty and Desperate Hosewifes so how would 30 Rock compare?

Strange, I wouldn't consider Ugly Betty or Desperate Housewives - more "dramedies" than anything. 30 Rock would be pretty different from those (and it is only 20-25 minutes per episode, like most sitcoms - it is not however a sitcom in any sense...). Like a lot of recent US comedies ("The Office", "My Name is Earl", etc), there's no laugh track which is very good... The humor in 30 Rock is pretty off the wall and I consider it almost a live version of "Family Guy" in that a lot of things are pretty random (it is, however, funnier than most recent Family Guy episodes) but very funny. It has some of the best one-liners ever...

Obviously, I'm kind of biased, but I would definitely recommend it - stick with it for a few episodes though. I almost dropped it after the first 2-3 episodes, but it really hits its' stride about 4-5 in and gets funnier as the supporting cast come in to it more. Season 3 currently airing in the US is bringing in a ton of celebrity guest stars though and that's not helping very much, as some of the minor characters are been sidelined... Still one of the funniest shows currently on US TV though.

You had me sold at Family Guy . Cant believe I forgot to mention that originally. That and Arrested Development are my favourite comedy shows ever. I will definatley have to try it out so.

Fair enough - I've only watched a bit of Arrested Development but yeah, if you like the humor there and in Family Guy, you'll almost certainly like 30 Rock. Enjoy :D.

Liz Lemon stalking Don 'Jon Hamm' Draper.

Jack Donaghy ticking one of the boxes on the "You know your show is 'jumping the shark' when .." checklist.

Still remains an entertaining 22 minutes and I'll keep watching.

You can't use Arrested Development and Family Guy in the same sentence. It's a grammar thing.

And I like how they tied in the whole "Generallisimo" plot, which I thought was going to be unbelievably stupid but was nicely used to fuel Liz's mad cap plans...

This show is excellent! Only started watching it 2 weeks ago, brillant!

If you like Family Guy's style of comedy I'd yes,to a certain point though,Family Guy has gone terrible for Season 7 :(

As said earlier Season 3 does relay on guest's too much, although the episode with Oprah in it was genius!

For anyone that hasn't seen it,watch it,you'll love it!

Going off on a tangent, does anyone else Tina Fey is really hot? :pac:

Brilliant episode again... the "Harry and the Hendersons" stuff was hilarious in itself but I didn't know John Lithgow was cast for the episode and he was hilarious for the few moments he showed up (did he say something like: "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" when Jack slammed the door on him right at the end :D?). I just love this show :).

"The Funcooker" - another brilliant episode. It was nice to see Liz's Princess Leia getup to get out of jury duty again and it not working ("this is isn't Chicago, it's New York" :)).

Jack: "Passing out? Cursing? On St. Patrick's Day? Is nothing sacred?" :D...

And a ton of other great one liners as usual (Kenneth has a squirrel skull-crusher... oooooook...).

And of course the funcooker itself, great to see Jack back at work for the microwave division :).

Frank just randomly showing up in his underpants

Jack: The BiteNuker is highly offensive to those who either speak French or Dutch. They would pronouce it Bity Nukk 'Hey thats awful!' I'm sorry Ms.Laroche Van Der Hoot.......classic!
