    Hello people,

Hope you can help with the following. I have a Logic Pro set up at home. I can't use monitors at home to listen back to my stuff as I have grumpy neighbours (music lovers). Me and the bass player listen back to the stuff on headphones but we both have different types so are not hearing the same thing.

So, we are going to buy two new sets of headphones (same type). Can you recommend any for around the 100 euro mark?

    THanks.

    I'm a fan of Grados.
If you shop around you should be able to get SR80s for about that kind of price.

These are meant to be absolutely class for studio work, i have tried the more dj based ones before and they dont let any sound escape, good with all frequencys,

Now they're not as much but still get an excellent quality sound out of them.

Other than this i tried a set of sennheiser headphones with reverse phasing on them and have to say that these were excellent. but i'd say i myself would go for the first sony's

    What's that then?

Something to do with Parallel Compression prolly:pac:
Audio Technica ATH-40's. One of the better companies out there IMO.
These are great headphones with good isolation and little spill, they are bullet proof have cable down one side and have a 3.5mm jack. Good comfortable and they don't get in the way. And they sound better than DT-100s too!

    Take a look.

    THanks everybody for the advice.

I might take a trip over to X-Music to see if they have any of the phones you guys mentioned.

i love my Senn hd580's, but the low end isn't right. Really comfy though.
If i was buying a new pair tomorrow i'd check out the senn hd650, AKG 701 and Beyerdynamic DT880.
http://www.headphone.com/ has good reviews on a lot of headphones.

For those on pc's these are handy for working on headphones:

I suppose you've thought about moving rooms already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,472 ✭✭✭Rockshamrover

    Hi Studiorat,

Moving rooms is not an option I have, unfortunately.

I will just have to go with the best reasonably priced headphones for now. Thanks again for all the input guys.

    Rock.

I completely agree with the first ones you mentioned (previously known as MDR-V6)

Personally tried the v700 series and thought they were muck. Too much mid-range, bass was fairly unresponsive and the highs were kind of plastic sounding I thought.

    Check this thread:

I went for the MDR-7509 HD, as endorsed by Mr. Paul Brewer in the above thread. They're really good...

I got the HD 25's in the end. The best I could afford. They are great in comparison to what I was using. Thanks for all the advise guys, it's greatly appreciated.

What would I do without boards?

What would I do without boards?

... yip - amen to that!... in fact I got Hd25s based on recommendations here & I think they're great. Great for mixing, but also give enough isolation for me when I'm tracking drums

Pro headphones? Simple. Beyer Dynamic DT-100's

    ^^^^^^^ err, NO dont get dt-100's !! ^^^^^

they are for monitoring NOT mixing .- they have no low end in them at all - they are only for broadcasting / DJ'S and other non sound savvy people ;-)

the hd-25s are good , but they have a little too MUCH low end - so you may find your mixes come out a bit thin on other systems.

you shouldnt mix on phones anyway - but if you have to - id go with GRADOS or the audio techinca ath 50 ( i think )
