    Didn't watch the whole thing, but safety concerns for this kind of thing are not a big deal at that age. It has always been common for circus artists and gymnasts to treat their kids this way. The child's bones and joints are far more flexible and supple than an adults and are unlikely to break or pop out under these kinds of conditions. The primary concern would be smakcing the child off something while he's swinging him around. Aside from that, you could only do damage if you were to jerk him around the place roughly. Fluid motions up and down and around don't pose a lot of danger.

    This kind of "training" builds up strength and over time will also accustom the child to heights and so forth.

    Not that I agree with it, but he's not alone, not by a long shot.
