I've always liked the smell of coffee, hated the taste until I started working in IT, now I go through half a jar a day easy. If I don't have a coffee or 2 every hour I can feel myself nodding off. Its a worse addiction then smokes...

Anyone else trapped in the coffee death grip?

I need my large coffee in the morning. Otherwise, I get nothing done for the rest of the day.

Coffee doesn't really have any effect on me, if i drink it it's because i like the taste! I'd love a hazelnut truffle latte right now, or vanilla bean latte.... Mmmm

since starting college I'm basically turning into a cup of coffee. I'm drinking a cup right now, and normally do at the computer.

I'm very particular about it now too, out in Maynooth there'd only be one or two places I'd even get it from. I don't care for yer mochalattastupidnameorama coffee, and keep to the simple ' one white coffee thanks a million' order.

    Where I'd be without it?
probably in bed a lot more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,460 ✭✭✭Ishmael

Starting drinking it quite a bit(4-5 cups during working hours) when i started working in tech support. Only drink a maximum of 2 cups a day now. Its good if you need energy to do something brainless or repetitive but if you have to do something that requires actual thinking, its the worse crack in the world. Really hard to maintain concentration on a single thing.

Although I puke my f**king guts up if I drink that ****e in a Jar, Freshly ground or lob it back to YORE MA.

Nice use of yore ma in a post, I'm impressed :D

But I'm already addicted to alcohol, cigarrettes and masturbating so I'm staying the f*ck away from coffee. Its tea all the way for me I'm afraid.

Start with one large cup of filter coffee every morning.

Was pulling a few late nighters recently so I decided to up it to 2 cups a day, with one around 1pm. Now that I've gotten used to it I can't even feel the second cup having any effect, so to get a bit more pep I need to have a 3rd cup now... and down the rabbit hole I go :(

Of course! You can always hide track marks but not your teeth!

    People, people, people.

It's coffee in the morning to get you started, and tea in the afternoon/evening to get you through.

You can have the best of both worlds!!!

    (Yes, Blue Mountain is amazing.)

(And you must also drink lots of water and chew lots of sugar-free gum to keep your teeth stain-free. Just a little tip from me to you . . . )

Ah I see what you did there,

You spelled beer phonetically just like Zangetsu did with the word coffee, beer like coffee is a stimulant which is arguably unhealthy and noxious.

    Bravo..

When it comes to coffee additction....you know your in trouble when you stop using a spoon to dish out the coffee granuals and pour it straight into the cup from the jar

....or what iv found myself doing lately...from a coffee machine...call a regular black coffee and then call an espresso to top it up.

That feeling of a bitter strong coffee thats causes your stomach lining to weep......I luv it luv it luv it luv it luv it!!!!!!!!

All you smug tea drinkers... there's caffeine in tea too you know. You should really come over to the dark side.

I start my day with a tall americano.

IT as well, and yeah I have a serious coffee addiction :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,074 ✭✭✭smallBiscuit

Hi, my name is smallBiscuit and I'm a coffee drinker
I drink (on a work day)
1 espresso when I get up
1 large americano when I arrive in work
    another at lunch time
A 'Breast pump' coffee around 3pm (Made using an AeroPress Coffee Maker - I think they look a bit like breast pumps)
and about another 4 or 5 espresso's when I get home
And I used to drink a lot more!

But about 2 years ago I gave up smoking and just stopped drinking coffee for about 6 months, with no withdrawl (that I could notice since I was really gasping for a smoke)
It also has no effect on me. I tend to drink an espresso just before bed and sleep like a baby

By the way I work in IT

Remember the good old days when tea was good enough for everyone? And so were ham and cheese sandwhiches, now everyone has to be fancy with their stupid coffee names and their feckin panini's....this country has gone to sh*t. :D

I used to order from Starbucks a (deep breath) Venti triple shot caramel machiato but stopped because it was a little to gay

    I like panini's though

Tea all the way at work during the week. I have a coffee machine at home and usually tuck into a couple of illy espressos over the course of the weekend.

''Can i have a tall, iced, non fat, sugar free, no whip, decaf, soy, caramel mocha please''

    ''fúck off''

I worked in IT a long time before coffee got its evil clutches into me. its just that the tea is so sh*te in our job that i started drinking the heavy stuff. I still love a cup of tea but coffee doesnt give me a choice.I'm in the second stage of addiction where you no longer take the drug because it makes you feel good but because you feel bad without it :(

"oh coffeeeee you're the devil, you're leadinnnggg meee astrayy"

I never liked coffee till I went traveling around Europe and got to taste the good stuff. Still can't drink instant.

If ye all like coffee ye should try speed or cocaine, much better buzz up for days and it won't wreck your teeth either.

Also work in IT and can't start a workday without a coffee, and if it's a bad day I drink up to eight lattes with triple shots

Used work in a place that had a Starbucks in the canteen.

I love the smell of coffe but cant drink much caffen as i get heart palpitations ... kinda worrying. So i took up smoking instead lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,845 ✭✭✭2Scoops

The caffeine content in instant coffee is negligible. So, unless you're bringing your French press to work with you, it's more likely the heat of the coffee that's keeping you awake.

Ah now i know you were taking the piss. You could have played that so well, my dear! Run along now to your heroin laced Frappee.
