Harrington won't win the order of merit title considering his play today. With Karrlson not much better, there was a window of opportunity and he has failed to capitalize.

Clarke and McDowell just off the pace, the rest of the Irish towards the rear.

You would have said the same thing about the USPGA too

    oh wait..

A poor start by Harrington, Karlsson marginally better. Westwood made the best start of all and I reckon he'll be the one to beat.

Conditions very difficult today with very slick greens - was dissapointed with Karlsson especially since i have some brass on him to win.

Early days yet i believe - this course tends to produce a quality winner - but Karlsson and tha Harr need a good one 2 moro.

R Mac not out of it by any means - things will be a lot clearer after tomorrows round.

Looks like Jimmy Ness is out of the picture anyway. Harrington really needs to get something out of the his last few holes today if he's going to have a chance. Hopefully Monty can manage a decent finish this week... he's had a miserable run of late. Come on Monty, give us a top ten!

The last line doesn't sound good for Harrington's chances...

"Less than four hours' play was possible on the second day of The European Tour's season ending Volvo Masters at Valderrama because of heavy rain.

Ten players had not even started their second rounds, including leaders Søren Kjeldsen and Sergio Garcia, but in the battle for the Order of Merit title Miguel Angel Jimenez dropped seven strokes in the first four holes before the suspension came.

That almost certainly puts him out of the running for the money list title - he had to win to stand a chance - leaving only Robert Karlsson, Lee Westwood and Padraig Harrington to battle for the crown.

Current number one Karlsson was three over after four holes and Harrington five over after 13, while Westwood had yet to resume on one under.

The forecast is not good for the weekend, meaning the last ever Volvo Masters could be cut to 54 or even 36 holes."

Not a good start for Darren. He sliced his drive off the first into the wet rough, then tried to hit a high fade to the green...but had a complete shank and was lucky not to put it out of bounds. He's just pitched on to the green in 4, so 2 putts will give him a 6 and drop him back to level par and out of the top 10.

Harrington +3 overall thru 15 of round 3 (he's -2 for his current round)
Karlsson is +5 at the same point... (+1 for the round)

I saw a little bit of it on TV yesterday and Garcia was playing the best golf so hope he takes the title.

Surely karlsson will claim the order of merit title. I think it is just a bit to big of a job now for harrington or westwood

is that after the 2nd round??

Why not just hit the link?

Harrington hasn't a sniff now. Westwood is looking very good today though. Has to win though so Karlsson is still in a very strong position.

It's been a great year for him though. Even Karlsson has said he is the true golfer of the year. If he's just played 1-2 more tournaments he would probably be order of merit winner at a canter, but the fact is that Harrington is in a different league compared to the other European Tour regulars now in that he has won majors.

Karlsson or Westwood might get the Harry Vardon tonight but Harrington is the true European star of the year.

I wonder if he can keep up performing like he has this year, next year or will it just be a once off brialliant season for him

Harrington finished +2 while Karlsson finished at +9. Pity Harrington was not able to start day 1 with a better round than +5.

Westwood is slipping back so can't see him winning from here. Karlsson will lift the Harry Vardon trophy.

Kjeldsen wins the last Volvo Masters.

Darren Clarke bogies the last for a tie for 11th place and he should still retain his place in the top 15 in the order of merit. Guarantee's him a place in 3 of the major's next year and also in the world golf championship's. Back in the big time.

McIlroy did not break the top 30 which would be required to qualify automatically for 3 of the major's next year.

Top 30 only qualify for next years british open. Top 15 qualify for US open. Not sure what the USPGA requirements are.

Ireland will have 5 players in the British open next year: Harrington, Clarke, McDowell, Mc Ginley and Damien McGrane. The winner of the Irish amatuer will also Qualify. I wouldnt be surprised to see 8 or 9 Irish players in Turnberry come next July.

Clarke, Mc Dowell and Harrington also into the US open.

Just rewards for a great season for Irish Golf!

Hope next season is just as successful. We'll see as it starts next Thursday!

The top 15 are qualified for the USPGA as well as the open's. The masters qualification is a bit different.

    Westwood was the unlucky IMO.
He played some of the best golf all year.
    Harrington won two big ones.
Karlsson did well recently, but Westwood was good all through.

McIlroy will be the one next year.
He has overcome the excitement of turning pro and come out of it in good shape.
When you consider how long it took Rose.
The current pros consider him the best prospect that has joined the tour in their time their (Tiger included).

You couldnt say Karlsson has only done well recently. Karlsson was the best player over the full year. There was a stretch from around the masters up to around the US open that Karlsson finished in the top 5 in every event he played in, in that period. And he played in most events. I think Karlsson and Westwood were the two most consistant golfers in europe this year but Karlssons two victories Put him ahead. Westwoods flat stick desserted him this season compared to last season when it looked like he was putting into the bucket.
