Give your local vets a call, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

One of my canaries had that before, turned out to be conjunctivitis, an inflammation of the covering of the eye. They get it from rubbing their heads/eyes off dirty perches or bars.

Birds go downhill very quickly and any sign of illness they should be taken straight to the vets without delay. Eye problems can be difficult to treat if not dealt with straight away.

If the vet says it's an eye infection insist on them taking a swab and sending it off to make sure they have given you the proper antibiotic ointment/drops because if the first lot of medication doesn't work the delay can cause the birds sight.

If the bird is put on an antibiotic ensure you are given or get a pro biotic to go with it avi pro or the like. I'd say it would be more likely an ointment or drops that would be given. Have some cotton buds handy to make it easier to apply.

Give the cage and perches a good clean with a bird safe disinfectant.
