    Hi All,

I am going to New York for 5 days in December. Iam quite worried because the news today said they are clamping down on people bringing stuff home, i want to buy some clothes and a iphone but am worried they will be takin off me. Does anyone know am i able to fill a smallish box and while i am in new york post it home? i've never been to the states so im sorry if i sound a little niave.

If anyone can shed any light on my situation i would be very grateful

I think they have that press release on auto dial for this time of year - every year. Of course someone is going to be unlucky - but I honestly think they're looking for people bringing in 10 iphones. A package with an iphone could attract as much attention as your luggage.

theres flat rates international envelopes/boxes out there,u get them for free from usps and just pay the cost to post them
the small one is like $13.95 (i think?)
and the big one is about $40
the small one would fit a tshirt (maybe 2 if theyre small), big one would fit maybe 2 tracksuits.
even if u were to post them in a regular box it shouldnt be too expensive. i bought a suitcase on ebay and had it shipped over from the usa, it was $52 for the shipping but i think it weighed about 4kg!

Thread locked. Discussion of how to get around customs is forbidden here.

Your question about postage has nothing to do with travel.
