Hey if I wanted to aggregate sound through a series of speakers how would i do it?

    I understand only this...

    App sound output>>Directx recoding>>soundcard>>speakers

    But would this work?

    App sound output>>Directx recoding>>soundcard>>8 Speakers

    Or...

    App sound output>>Directx recoding>>soundcard1>>speaker1
    soundcardN>>speakerN
    etc.

I'm not sure if this is possible through using the Directx software, but I know that I have two sound cards on my PC (onboard Realtek and Creative Audigy PCI). Using just the Sound and Audio Panel in Control Panel, I am only allowed to select to use ONE of these as the output at any one time. I would think that you have the same limitation.

Thanks man, I understand that... If the soundcard outputs one signal (which I believe to be true!??), then where along the line, or what chooses the intensity of the sound (for each speaker) in lets say a surround sound system?

Well there's a basic setup for speakers on the Sound And Audio Options | Volume page, on the advanced option, you can choose how many speakers..

Usually there is some software that comes with the card, like the Creative AudioHQ, for configuring that sort of thing.

Yep, what I really want to figure out is how they work exactly, but cant! I have found DirectX source code, but nobody seems to understand or know how soundcards work! Sound Blaster Monopoly?
