    Hi guys,

Bit of a long story this one. Im a 21year old guy in my final year in college. Last year I was asked by 2 friends who were girls in my class to live with them this year. There was supposed to be another friend of ours living with us but he couldn't afford the rent. But now since I've moved in with them I've been thinking of moving out. I dont really see much of them outside of lectures when im in the apartment especially at night. The other person living there doesn't speak much english.I dont know many other people around college. All my friends live at home so they aren't around college in the evening. At night im generally on my own just in my room watching tv or on the internet.

One of them is never there and she usually has he bf over when she is.
The other is going out with one of my best friends whos repeating the year and they are always all over each other when he is in the apartment. I feel awkward everytime they are there. They are often there during the day when we don't have class, I usually just go to the shop or study just to avoid them. The other night i went to the cinema for no reason just to get out of the apartment. Then if we are going out with the rest of our friends the two of them usually end up travelling with me and its really awkward. Last nite we went to a house party in a friends house and it was really awkward i left the party on my own well after them just so i wouldn't meet them on the way back to our apartment. I dont really feel like going out with my friends if they are going to be there.

Theres only once a week when our friends call over and have some food. Its the only time really i see the rest of my friends outside of college hours. I might only see them at lunch for the rest of the week. We only share 2 hours a week lectures. Theres only 5 other people in my class and no one hangs out together outside of class. Im really shy so i haven't really gotten to know other people in college. Im even really shy when it comes to talkin to people I know a bit.

I find it really hard to sleep at night and i was thinking of dropping out of my course. I dont want to end up failing my degree.

I feel really bad about this but I don't know what to do.

I know you're in your final year, but it's still not to late to make new friends outside your group - Even outside your course - It's still pretty much the start of the new term, see what's happening with society's, etc. The fact that you don't know that many people gives you all the more reason to join - If you don't like 'em, you don't have to go again.

Housemates can be odd, awkward and a general pain in the arse, but at the end of the day, it's your house too, whether they were there first or not. Again, I know you said you don't have that many friends, but if you were at another friends house party last night, that can't be totally true - It's not a case of you and them! See if your friend that had the house party wants to come over to yours for a drink or two (Not a big house party, mind), see if one or two of your friends that live at home want to go out for a few pints - The fact that you have a house, and most likely a couch to crash on, etc is an enticement to keep them out 'til late, rather than going home!

If you've made it this far through college, and considering you've not said you don't like the course itself, there's no point in dropping out just yet! You just need to get over a bit of shyness... try the societies, try going out for a few on a Thursday evening, etc, and see what happens before making any other decisions :)

    oooh..

I've been in situations like yours before mate..

you sound to be a person who doesnt like confrontation?...Im a bit like that myself, but you should maybe sit your flatmate down and mention that it makes you feel really uncomfortable when you're all over each other..there are bedrooms for that...

people have to respect the common areas in flats....bedrooms?..do whatever the hell you want...but areas where it is shared, has to be looked after responsibly...believe me man, I've been in loads of appartments, nipping this in the bud early will save you a whole load of problems...trust me.

use what I've typed if you want...just tell him , if he wouldnt mind going to his room if he wants to fool about..thats not on...

    It might help things :)
