Hair Gel

Today I decided to put less gel in my hair, to see how it looked. I like a firm hold, so I generally put in quite a bit (some might say too much!). Now I realise that less can be more.

Anyone have any views on the subject? What brands to use, how best to apply? Ladies, what do ye think? Is too much gel off-putting?

This has been in the back of my mind for a while, so it'd be nice to hear opinions!

I shaved my head a bit back but before I used pretty much gel, brylcreem or shockwaves brands, used to use dax as a teenager but can't use it anymore as it's rotten stuff altogether. Wet look or whatever is the strongest available gel type does the job fine for me. Tried fructis lately and it's pretty much the same except a little stickier in texture and a sweet fruity smell but not quite the required hold for me.

I only apply it in towel dried hair just out of the shower. Otherwise it fails miserably. Couple of small blobs on the finger tips and your sorted. And less is more definitely. The more you apply the harder it is to style. Try using a very small amount and see how it works. If needs be add a little more progressively until your happy. I found that a big splodge in one go worked a lot less successfully than a couple of smaller blobs, added consecutively.

Lol never thought I'd be talking about styling my hair on boards. How metro of me !

I don't know anything about products or anything you might want to use, but less is definitely more. There's nothing less pleasant than playing with hair that's dripping in manky greasy wax or gel.

Well that's all I have to offer.... :)

    (I'm a girl btw!)

I feel the same, I'm not sure I've ever been here before!

I have very fine hair so on my hairdressers recommendation I switched from a water based gel to a wax. Its a loreal wax and it works well and holds a style much better. Less is definately more.

Go for creams! Oh they are wonders! Try brylcreem soft/gel wax, its a blue bottom to it and its white, its very good..
