Hi, we have a 9 month old baby. We want to go abroad in May (baby will be 1 year 3 months old by then). I'd like to hear recommendations for places not more than 3 hours away on a plane, nice weather but not extremely hot, close to a beach, family friendly, good 4-5 star hotels, with nice restaurants and good shopping to keep Mrs Hamrog happy.

Any advice would be very welcome

This place is extremely family friendly, fulfils all your criteria except for it's an extra hours flight (Aer Lingus or charter) but is a very high class and enjoyable hotel.

    Thanks Dyflin,

That hotel looks very good :) It does seem to tick all the boxes all right. Thanks for taking the time to send this on to me, much appreciated. I'll look into this as an option.

Does anyone else have any recommendations?

If it was me I'd fly the extra hour and go to any of the canary islands. The weather in the med can be very unsettled in May and while you could get lucky you could also get very unlucky. Nothing worse that being stuck inside as it's wet / cold and dull out.
Another place to look at would be the Marina Suites in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. Fabulous apartments & you'll have a seperate bedroom for the baby so you can go relax in teh living room when the baby is sleeping as opposed to a hotel room and having to keep it down.

If you did prefer a hotel the Gloria Palace Amadores is lovely too
