Only those who saw a show or who are going to the show should really comment as well. Lest things go to pot again.

Why? What if i couldn't make it to a show because of work, a birth, a holiday.

Does that mean that i cant post in the thread?

    Thats absolute bullshit rovert...

    It was locked?

    Meh :(

Rovert, I'll PM you in a few minutes.

RRC, Seen as the meet and greet is at the start of the show, I don't think you'd have any issues meeting him?

(unless of course you're doing stuff during the day beforehand)

Bret has been on top form on this tour so far and is pretty approachable, for those who might be nervous about signings and stuff.

He signed "worse" things at the Dublin show.

I turned to mush when it was my turn in the queue to meet him and I rarely get star stuck.

You're the only one who has spoke off topic so far.

CBG: They have promos at the shows and stuff, so what im gonna do is just get one of them signed and get a photo with the man. Probably the same for everyone actually. May buy Tatanka's figure, too. Not sure yet. €35 is a lot for a figure that will inevitably get damaged during the show at some point.

As VR said, he's in good form, so hopefully that will remain consistent through the entire tour. So long as i get a photo with him I'd be happy enough. Thats the top of the old list at the moment (not just bret, i want to get a photo will all the former WWE'ers). I hope to get Duprèe too. And Sabu if possible.

Question: Has anyone been in a pissy or upset mood thus far in the show?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,045 ✭✭✭Vince135792003

I'll share a little moment I had at the show which I thought was quite funny looking back on.

We arrived way too early for the show in Tallaght and were waiting at the front of the building on the off chance we might see them coming in.

After about 30 minutes, a bus came through and I assumed it was a good chance it was them.

As the bus was parking, my friend whose not a huge wrestling fan (but a big Bret one) didn't recognise anyone and without any glasses the only thing I could make out was a big, old white guy who seemed to be staring angrily out the window at me (who would turn out to be PM News).

My friend took one look at the reg. of the bus, one look of angry old guy staring out at us and while some of the guys literally hobbled out of the bus he calmly responded, "Maybe they are pensioners on a tour from Limerick".

It made me laugh when 5 seconds later out popped Scott Too Hotty and he completely marked out for him.

That was one of my concerns Bret hasnt been on a serious tour in many a year, i know hes a very professional guy but I'd imagine he'd be tired/annoyed be the end of it, not on purpose obviously

He'll expect it! He signed about 4 of them at the Wrestling Mania signing, even had the silver marker for it. Just be yourself. But hey, even the most hardcore Bret fan can bottle it....

    ... right Dre? ;)

Yeah. Im quite worried that Bret may go out drinking tonight, and all it takes is one ass hole to get in his face over something stupid and it could ruin the tour for him (and the rest of us still waiting to meet him).

So im hoping that they're all in good form for tomorrow's show.

Wouldn't it be great going out and meeting Bret Hart :D

I sat across from him on Sunday and he must have signed at least one thing for everyone in the building and he had as much energy for the first person as the last. I would like comments from a parent who brought kids to a show but Bret seemed to excellent with them even if they didnt nkow who he was.

Heh, well we both know he's been the subject of heavy criticism from me over the course of the last few years. But times change, people change, opinions change.

I'm still glad i went and got my book signed, i got one signed for a friend. I noticed he throws in a heart if it's made out to a girls name too, which was a nice touch.

Surely you can't completely change your opinion of him purely down to meeting him in person?

If i remember correctly, you were never exactly the biggest Bret fan in the world. But as of late you've been very positive in relation to him.

It's a respect thing. I still think he was in the wrong for Montreal 97. But since then, he's had his career flushed down the toilet, lost his younger brother, post concussion syndrome, a stroke and lost both parents in a five to six year timeline. I lost my own mother about a year ago due to cancer and thought i was going to lose my mind.

So i can't possibly imagine the hell this guy went through, especially over a career that he dedicated his life to for the guts of 25 years, to have that to show for it? Somehow, the punishment doesn't fit the crime there, for a career that he initially didn't want to get into, he did it as a favour to his dad.

After seeing him and how he is now, you can tell that it's not a whole person in there, that a lot of things are lost, and understandably so. The fact that he toughed it out and is still standing on both feet says a lot. It's not a case of just meeting him. But when you do see him and think about all that. It does make you think long and hard.

    Anyway, philosophical rant over.

And a pretty damn good example of how opinions can be changed in a negative way. That said, I met Chris Daniels at the IWW supershow along with AJ Styles and Chris Sabin and they were all dead sound. But then we didn't bug them too much for too long, just a handshake and a few words. Fun times.

But this aint about IWW, this is about AWR :D

    Well put

Bret Hart said starkly in his interview that all his friends are dead. His long time personal trainer and the person who helped him rehab after his stroke died this year and Bryan "Crush" Adams one of the reasons Bret moved to Hawaii died in 2007.

I see what you're saying, VR!. I also didn't care for Daniels when i met him (at the same time as CBG) so i can see how that would work the other way around, too.

Kash was great to meet at IwW the times i seen him. And i always read about how he is supposedly a dick to meet.

Im looking forward to meeting Bret. Can't think of anythign worthwhile bringing to get him to sign, though. Was gonna bring a figure of everyone at the tour, but chose not to as they'd be a real pain in the ass ot carry around. Although I may still grab the Bret one to get signed. Can't believe tatanka's the only one who brought over figures.

You know this line of tables at the shows? Is it just the 'special guest' wrestlers at it? or are a lot of the Irish wrestlers there, too?

bret didn't stay up late the night of hall of fame in chicago so i doubt he will go mad drinking tonight. anyway in castlebar last time out the wrestlers spent the time in the private bar of the hotel (i would expect something similiar tonight)

bret would be used to madness out anyway, in america wrestling fans are nuts, i thought it was funny on sunday bret walking through the green SC on to the carpark and not one person asking him for an autograph or photo, if he did that in an american mall he would have 100 people following him

I was at the Letterkenny show and thought id share my boring ramblings... aka experiences.
All the wrestlers were fantastic, very talkative and they all seem to be excited. It is truely a 'Guilt Line' i didnt wanna talk to any of the guys i didnt have money to purchase items from especially Tatanka who greeted people with, 'Hi what can i get for You today.' They all seemed ok with talking and shaking hands with us non-purchasers as well as everyone else. The line up for the meet and greet was: Scotty Too/The Hotty, EUgene, Tatanka, Joe E. Legend, Mexican Minis and finally Bret Hart.

I got an old WWF magazine signed (its one were Bret has Owen in the Sharpshooter at Summerslam 94) He was looking well and was'nt overly talkative but made pleasentries and commented on the magazine, kinda what i was expecting from him as he doesnt seem the warm talkative type. If You have his book he will have a little conversation with You about it. He does'nt seem to mind signing stuff as i saw him sign a John Cena spinner belt, he did seem to not want to sign an old British Bulldog figure but that might be because, id guess, they would be very hard to sign.

The layout of the ring and set was excellent, except for the guardrail that let the entire thing down in my opinion as it was a plastic orange safety one that looked like it may have been around an open manhole earlier in the night. The ring was very nice, reminded me of the ROH ring. The lighting and entrance way were great and the ring announcer was very, very good. (even though he had what seemed to be a fake American accent as he was saying Tirty instead of thirty)

There was a big crowd, around about 1000 people maybe. 60% kids, some with John Cena and Rey Mysterio signs. lol

Was expecting crappy enough wrestling but was very pleasently suprised. The matches didnt outstay there welcome, were all watchable and there were no real botches not even by Sabu and they were family friendly enough even Sabu.
Some funny moments included: Scotty lifting a little girl up for a dance and she begins crying. Sabu looking all fierce then knocks a bottle into the crowd it hits a kid in the face and Sabu smiles, laughs and says sorry. Renee Dupree almost showing the crowd if hes circumcised:eek: The 'not very good' security getting chewed out by the ring announcer for letting about 20 kids to get over the guardrail and into the ring.

Bret's entrance, speech and exit is in its entirety about 4 minutes long and is basically, 'Thank You for comin out. Thanks from me and my family. See Yah!!!' I dont know if its different at each show, the crowd here did'nt chant anything so maybe thats why ours didnt last long. So get chanting, something along the lines of 'Thank You Bret' etc. might get a longer speech.

I actually got to give Bret a few DvD's i had made, during a trip to the shop at the end of the interval. He was very approachable and accepted them and thanked me saying he would watch them (wonder if they left the locker room:p). My mate went to the bathroom and on his way back said hi to Joe Legend and he asked him how he found Ireland and Joe said that he didnt, he had got on the plane and the pilot did the rest of the work. :) He was a great guy who at one stage said that yes he was indeed Bret Hart to a little kid who asked then told him nah Brets at the end. Buy a TShirt or 2 from him if You can. Loved the 'The Great I AM Tees.' :D

It was overall a great event and well worth the €35. It was definitely better than most of the WWE shows ive been to. Will definitely be going again next year if they return. BIG THUMBS UP!!! :)

It wasn't much longer at the Tallaght event either.

In an interview with the Observer site a few weeks ago, he said that he found public speaking really hard and that his body on the left side (after his stroke) literally tenses up to the point where everything he does is a big effort.
