Yep, instore the price will be the same everywhere. unless a particular shop happens to be doing a promotion. The ipod touch is one of the less competitive products out there unfortunately.

Just had a quick look at the argos site and the 2 models they have there are the old touch and the new touch...oddly enough they haven't updated the price of the old touch and it is showing up as being more expensive than the new one

yeah i picked up a 16gb touch in PC world this morning - €279. They offered an extended warrenty as well but i didn't get it. I just realised tho i presume the ipod i bought is the latest version i.e. generation 2 yeah?! i have already opened the box and all that so not much chance of going back for store credit if its gen 1. is there any way of checking this online?

Does it have a volume button on the side? if it does then it is the new one... there are other obvious design giveaways but this one is the easies thing to confirm.

damn it there isn't. Absolutely raging!!! i googled it too and on the apple website it shows pictures-mine is not the contoured version nor does it have an oval shaped antennae cover in the back upper left corner. F*&K IT anyway.:mad: im gonna go back down to the shop and see if its the gen 2 they have on display cos if it is thats the model i asked for. Thanks for speedy reply. Is there much difference between them anyway-i read that i need to download something for 10$ to have the new apps feature.

The main difference is that the 2nd gen has a built in speaker and nike plus built in too (and the backplate is stainless steel as opposed to chrome plated)...otherwise they are the same. BUT since you paid full retail price bring that sucker right back and get yourself a new one/refund

update-i brought it back into pc world in jervis centre and fair play to a manager in there once the situation was explained he immediately offered me a refund. For future reference pc world in jervis do not have the second generation in stock yet but they do have it as their display model!!! Buyer Beware.

I knew that was gonna to happen i'd say there trying to flog off old stock. The 2nd gen is only month according to wikipedia. I'm definitely buying from the online apple store, surely they should stock the 2nd gen version.

yeah thats the plan now. you get free engraving on the back if you order thro apple online. Id say there are alot of the gen 1 floating around. Especially in the bigger chain stores.
