    HI All

Myself and my partner are talking about the whole marriage thing :D

We really want to get married in Italy or somewhere as nice, but I was thinking off getting the paper work out of the way before we go away,
as in go to the registry office in Ireland and have a blessing abroad to
    save hassle.
Has anyone any ideas on this or done it this way?
Any help at all well be a great help!

    Hi Keller

    You have two options really,

1: You get married civilly in Italy this option can be hard and lots of documentation is required which will need to be translated too. You have to be very careful to make sure that you do all the legal paperwork in Italy to ensure that it your marriage is recognised under Irish Law.

2: Have a civil ceremony in Ireland, that will mean you will just be required to bring/post the cert to Italy prior to your wedding. At least you will have peace of mind that your marriage is recognised under Irish Law.

I hope that is of some help

    Regards

We got married in Italy last August. It was very similar to the Irish way. There was some documentation we needed from the Parish, our Nulla Osta, certificates of freedom, complete a pre-marriage course, pretty easy. Then for the civil side, copies of our birth certs, our passports, and a form to be filled in a stamped. For anyone getting married abroad USE A PLANNER they will help with all of this. It seriously was very easy, and just like here the religious and civil ceremony were one. We went into the town hall the day before to swear we were not related, I hadn't killed or was about to be charged with killing any previous wife or his, or he a previous husband of mine ;-) Good luck, completly and whole heartedly recommend Marco in Villa Baroncino and Villa San Crispolto :-)

Why would you need to do this? Since there's nothing legal taking place in Italy, there's no certs or such needed.
