    Hi there,

I have a fancy dress party coming up and my outfit is 1950's themed. I'd really like to get my makeup right for the look and dont really have a clue myself. I also dont want to pay a fortune!

Someone suggested calling up one of the makeup counters (eg MAC) in a shopping centre near me (a big one) and booking in for an appointment/makeover on the day and getting them to do it and that i might only need to buy a lipgloss or something in return. They said they'd probably put on false eyelashes for me too. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is actually possible? Thanks....

Most of the counters in Brown Thomas do it, you just have to buy products worth €25 euro at the end. So if you know you'll be buying something of that value in the near future, go to that counter and get your make up done there. Only snag is the waiting list for Mac counter in BTs is apparently months long. And you'd need to book the others a few days in advance.
They don't do this service on the counters in Cleary's. However, I did recently get a full makeover on a Friday evening at one of the counters there for free (no need to buy €25 of products), and the girl told me if they're not busy they'll sometimes do them for you if you just walk in.
I've actually bought a €25 makeover in BTs for a few friends as birthday presents. They get a voucher for a free makeover plus €25 worth of products.

    Brilliant, thanks Frecklier,

Its Blanch SC i'll be going to. Any idea of what counter to ring if MAC is mad busy? Its the eye makeup im worried about the most. I dont have a clue what counters are there in Debenhams but i'd imagine it's the usual.

If they have a benifit then I reckon that one. I got a free make over from the one in Dundrum, although I ended up buying loads haha :D

any of them will do it, i worked on a make up counter and we used to love doing make up for a fancy dress rather than the norm. All counters will do it but MAC or benefit would be best for a fancy dress make up,you have to book in advance

Just called Debenhams and booked an apt with the Clinique counter. Booked an apt for a few hours before the party. She said they'd do my false lashes too as long as i bring my own! All i've to do is pay 25euro and i get products for that too, cheers for all the replies!
