Is the strenghtening US dollar going to make South America a lot more expensive to travel around?

How do you mean?? I can see how it'd make Ecuador more expensive but not the rest of them.
I was there just as the dollar was weakening. In some countries I had the choice of paying in dollars or local currency. I paid in which ever was weakest, so maybe nowadays it'd be best to pay in local currency.
Even if it gets a bit more expensive, it'll still be fairly cheap.
