I'm heading off travelling in about a month or so. I was just wondering if you just wanted some kind of office admin/call centre job, where is the best & easiest place to go?

Do you mean, where can you work in Ireland for one month, or what country will you be able to find that kind of work?

    Where are you travelling to?

  • I took it to mean a month working here to save for travelling. One thing is - Most call centres make you sign a contract where you have to stay for 3 months, or they take 'training costs' from your final wage. That means being left with almost nothing, if you only stay for a month. Might not be the case everywhere, it was for the ones I've worked in.

If you just wanted something part time not too demanding just short-term, what would you do?

Office temping is massive right now.

No fixed contract, walk away whenever you want, and get paid high wage (about €15 - €17 per hour?) filing and stuff like that.

In the finance industry nobody is being taken on with contracts etc. due to the unstable market conditions right now. So staff leaving are generally being replaced with temp workers and internal re-shuffling, so that is your best bet. Low pressure, low commitment and good money.

Best of luck with it anyway!

Temping in an office is one good way. The other is retail sales (harvey normans, did et al). You'll get a decent basic but work hard and you'll get commission on what you sell. Could be a good way to get a lump o cash in a short period

Commission and things usually paid a month in arrears so might not benefit from that right away.

No one is going to hire you for one month.

Perhaps try temping but that's about it.

Well obviously you wouldn't tell them you're leaving after a month. Don't they usually have a no-notice period for a few months? Also I would need something that would pay straight away?

No, you'll more than likely sign a contract which will state your notice period. For most jobs it's one month.

You mean pay weekly? Perhaps retail...?

If you are only able to work for one month, I think you should take anything you can!

Temping is where you work in an office "temporarily" covering for someone who is out sick or on holidays. The assignments can last from days to months. Typically the work is admin work and the pay is anything from 10 - 15 euro or thereabouts.

I run a temping website (see my signature) and I can tell you there is a LOT of competition out there for the few temping positions which are available at the moment.

    No harm in applying though.

Is experience essential? Havent done office work before so I guess Id be ruled out straigt away?

one way you could do it is by working from home doing e-marketing and online sales.thats another way to work from home its usually commisioned based but can be a nice little earner, I recently started working from home for an new Irish online directory for http://www.snazzyjobs.com/ the directory is been launched 1st of december and is quite unique compared to other online directories.i am earning 25-33% commision the service is very reasonable priced at 100 euros so even doing a mere 4 online sales a day i can earn over 130 euros a day i intend earning more..not bad at all because i used to travel to work each day for less you can get more details from info@snazzyjobs.com mention my name in your mail albert i can a bonus for that too or you could do direct calling business sales it has a much higher yeild but requires more effort and face to face sales is not everyones cup of tea
