At least 5 invalid entries in the top 100 (as in shouldn't be there):

Chemical Bros - don't DJ (and its a DJ list not an EDM performer list)
    Daft Punk - don't DJ
    Deadmau5 - claims he doesn't DJ
Deep Dish - don't perform, end of
Gabriel & Dresden - as above

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,556 ✭✭✭Nolanger

Thought DJ Dan was disqualified for cheating i.e. multiple votes from the same PC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,142 ✭✭✭✭L1011

For only one year. The 140s mark is far more accurate than the FIFTH he got a few years back!

true, they just press space bar
    MYOB wrote: »

Did Johnny Moy make it on there this year?

Super8 & Tab at 115 and Tiesto at no 2? **** right off....

Where/when? Not seen one advertised in ages. They're rare enough that if people were actually voting on peoples DJing skills (which its clear they aren't) you could barely judge them.
    Helix wrote: »

    G&D definitively don't - entirely broken up
Went and checked their site and Deep Dish have one combined date all year - NYE.

In both cases people are voting from memory rather than what they've seen in the past year.... as above.

Yeah stupid list with the usual trance sh*te way too high up. Crap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,142 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Votings entirely open, not much use moaning after the fact if you didn't vote yerself...

Its purely a popularity contest, and record sales wouldn't be too far off this (at least towards the top - further down it gets messy) either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,401 ✭✭✭jtsuited

hmmm, i don't think this is really a popularity contest as more sensible people wouldn't bother voting in such a banal pointless poll. So you just get the trance loving kids voting because they've been brought up on interactive media!

What they should do is compile a chart of the standard fees each dj charges. It would be a vastly different poll altogether.

wouldnt make it a better one though.

If you venture beyond Ireland you find the concept of 'trance loving kids' doesn't exist, by the way... its extremely, extremely lazy stereotyping.

I'm well past being a kid and I love trance, well the proper stuff anyway. The likes of Tiesto and them are not real trance in my eyes, but they are unfortunately the first muppets that come up when trance enters a conversation.

Real trance is a 6-8 minute tune you can lose yourself in. Not 6-8 minutes for Tiesto to throw jesus christ poses behind his decks...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 668 ✭✭✭FLYNN-DOG

Well it is also divided up in2 sections ie. best techno / best trance, based on votes, so if you don't like trance but love techno just consider the best techno dj to be the world no 1!

that's because the kids in other countres have more taste tbh.

Eh, no, its because kids in other countries listen to Scooter (most of Europe), Scouse House (Britian) and all sorts of other ****e commonly released on AATW...

Trance events in Europe are attended by a similar age group to techno events here. Claiming trance is for kids is about as accurate as claiming techno is solely for snobs.

Trance isnt my cup of tea, but it is easily the most accesible an popular genre of dance music, and probably the genre that anyone hear in the 20-25 yr age bracket first started listening too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,556 ✭✭✭Nolanger

the only electronic-dance genre invented by white people.

    so very accurate then?

At least Tiesto ain't number one again. I saw him in Meath this year for the first time after being a long term fan. Don't think I'll be as quick to go back. However, Armin Van Buuren is my next act to see.

I never mind these polls anyways. Doesn't influence my track or set choices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 725 ✭✭✭djfattony2000

And not a turntablist in sight.

    pfff

not true mate, in Ibiza there are trance loving kids from all over Europe who worship Van Burren,Tiesto and similar other cheesemeisters, like it or lump it but Euro Trance is the biggest genre of dance amongst the younger clubbing fraternity.

So your saying this poll gets the most votes from people in Ireland?

Eh why do people pay attention to these polls they are full of ****

Ibiza is the worst possible example you could take - however, its also clear you're not actually using it properly. You've obviously never been to a trance night in Ibiza because its far from "kids". Unless you're so old that anyone under 30 is a kid?

Also, neither van Buuren nor Tiesto are "euro trance". When you know what you're talking about, come back to me, OK. Until then, please stop pronouncing from your high horse, making unsubstatiated and untrue claims and abusing genre terms.

Did you vote for them, though?

Not much point complaining about something if you didn't vote in it, as most of the people here appear to be doing...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,528 ✭✭✭copeyhagen

course i did. i never go back to the site to check the results though cuz the cheesey bastards that top the list always annoy me.

Anyone heard the new DJ Muffin-Head mix, a nice blend of Euro-Scag-Trance-Jazz... really uplifting and full of energy. Will upload if anyone is interested - his last set from a closing party in Ibiza on some beach under a sunset, and stuff.

    *hides*

i presume this beach was disserted. possibly not beforehand!!
