    Hello everyone,
Been reading the forum a lot lately and got a lot of very good info.
I took the plunge last week and bought a canon 1000d with the kit lens in Jessops , newry. I'm very pleased so far and I think I have definitely gotten the bug. (already contemplating new lenses)

Bought a sony cyber shot w170 in august and before then never really put any thought into photos, just snapping off as i saw fit but the Sony got me thinkin a bit.

Up until last week didn't know a thing about f stops and such, but got Understanding exposure and have been fascinated.
I would mostly be into landscape, animals and motorsports.

Anyways heres a few of my first shots for your C&C.Tried my hand at some PP with the canon bundled software.(might have overdone it on some)

    Hi and welcome.
It would be easier if you were to number your pictures for c n c too!

#1 Green seems over sat'd, not much to interest me in the picture either.
    #2 I'm a sucker for animals so...aaahhh!:o
#3 Odd angle and again nothing really grabs me.
#4 Bad over satuaration of the flower.
#5 You need to get him fully into the picture and not so centred
    #6 Same as #3
#7 Way too soft and blurred, does your previous pictures of the Dog not show this?
    #8 Nothing again grabs me.

Keep snapping away though and you'll see progress or ask for any advice here.

    :)

    Thanks for the comments,
I took these before i started reading Understanding Exposure so I hope I can take on board what I'm learning.

yea I thought I had gone a bit overboard but It's very easy to be taken in by vivid colours(even if they're bad vivid). Gonna have another go at the PP tomorrow try and get a more natural look.

How can I reduce the saturation on the grass in #1 w/o losing the colour of the sky? Not sure the bundled software will let me adjust a portion of the image.(any recommendations for good beginners software?)

#3 Odd angle and again nothing really grabs me.

By odd angle do you mean as in height or maybe more straight on?

#7 Way too soft and blurred, does your previous pictures of the Dog not show this?
They're actually 2 different dogs and I just happened to like the expression on his face here but a sharp picture should have been the goal .(also just realised the wife took that one having a go of the camera)
