    How difficult is it?

Are there any shirt makers that will make shirts that somebody designs?

Has anyone ever done this? If so what kind of cost are you talking about per shirt?

If anyone could give me the name of any shirt maker that does this kind of thing it would be great!

    Cheers.

Usually about €30 upwards per shirt depending on the detail. Finding a local dressmaker is the best way but it'll probably be cheaper to get them made in the UK. Go to fashioncapital.co.uk for lists of manufacturers.

Prices completely depend on the detail and quality you want.

The problem with shirts is, as one Irish manufacturer told me, is that they have as much work in them as a dress but you can't charge as much so very few people are willing to make them.

Edit: Sorry, the €30 price I gave is a price I'm being charged but that is only for sewing. I've had to cut the fabric and create and grade the patterns myself and veline and mark everything for sewing.

If you just have a design but don't know how to make up the pattern then you'll have to get a pattern cutter first (PM me for the name of a good one). Or some of the UK sample units will make everything from a drawing but the cost will be very high.

Cheers designlady, really appreciate your comments.

I'm like really far out shirts... except nobody makes the kind of stuff I like bar this designer www.chenaski.de

I would love to try and get a few shirts made with designs that I have but don't know the first thing about going and getting it done!

Any further advice you could give me would be much appreciated!

Louis Copeland will make a shirt from scratch for you but it'll cost around €200.

If you do manage to find someone that is making shirts for less i'd be really interested to hear about them. Im a mad fan of Karl Lagerfelds 4 inch collars but making them from scratch exceeds my skill set somewhat.

How does the Louis Copeland thing work? Do you go to him with just a design and he just makes it???

Maurice Abrahams (Dawson St.) will make you a bespoke shirt for around €80 - €100. I'm sure that if you brought in your own material they would/could cut it from that for an extra charge. You could also ask in Lewins (South Anne St.) though the shop here is only an outlet rather then somewhere thay make the shirts. Or, if you have any friends in London then ask them to check out the shirtmakers in Jermyn Street to see if they will make one from your chosen material.
Or buy a sewing machine on Ebay. :)
Let us know if you get one made up.

I haven't had a shirt made myself there, (im just speaking from a friends experience) but typically you'd go in to be measure and they'd make the short according to your measurements. You'd have to speak to someone there to see if they'd make it according to your design but i cant see it being a problem.

I'm very interested to hear if you do end up having it made.
