hi crisps. I am also having ping problems with eircom. I have very high pings in the evenings between the hours of 7-11pm. I have logged this problem with eircom and they think the problem is between my router and my pc. An engineer is coming out to look at it next week.

I'm with Eircom in Kildare. My line syncs at 5.2Mbit. During the day pings are fine e.g. 35 ms to boards.ie -> during the evening its crap - goes to 200 to 300 ms and download speeds as measured by IrishISPTest drop as well. I doubt the problem is between your router and PC more like contention I'd say.
Thats what i think is happening here in my place anyway.
