joypad problem

    Hi,

Im having a problem with my games controller. Its just a basic Microsoft Sidewinder that I bought a few years ago. I play PES2008 on my laptop. When in the game, for some reason, the players keep running to the left. when i quit the game and go to the exit screen where it has exit: yes no, the highlighted chosen option alternates quickly from yes to no to yes to no, etc. almost as if the left part of the joypad-D is being held down.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? and if so, what can I do to solve this?

I have tried unplugging my sidewinder and plugging it back in but to no avail.
Also, when i go into the controller option in control panel to view the controller axis with the little 'x' in the calibration box, the 'x' is in the centre, but when i press any button on the joypad, it constantly stays on the left.

    Thanks

    dan.

Have you dropped it lately? It sounds like the switch inside the controller is sticking. I would open it with a screw driver and have a look at it

on the D-pad, there are no switches. When the D-pad is pressed, it just makes contact with the circuit board.

Well it's been a while since ive opened a control pad! But there is nothing any of us can do on here, cos it's clearly a problem with the control pad, and not the software so you would be best off opening it up and seeing if you can see something amiss!

Not true I have 2 Sidewinder gamepads and both don't configure with modern games I find. OP I can't figure it out either the test software with the gamepad shows everything is ok but when you load up any game it gives problems. Same problem with yours players in Fifa on my laptop moving their own way.
