I was planning on getting this game for Christmas but now I'm not sure as ign only gave it a 7.9. Could you please inform me on other reviews?

I'm just importing Rock Band 2 instead, think it may even be out here in time for Christmas. With all the Rock Band 1 tracks and DLC I've already downloaded I'll have over 300 songs out of the box, and there's nothing on the GH: WT disc that makes me wan tto pick it up, a few tracks I wouldn't mind playing, but in Rock Band, not in Neversoft's shoddy imitation. THe most telling line in the IGN review for me was
This scenario clearly sounds an awful lot like Rock Band, and in some ways the game is extremely similar to Harmonix's band simulator. However, as much as it's tried, Neversoft hasn't been able to catch up to Rock Band quite yet. And yes, I'm talking about last year's game, and not even Rock Band 2.

So I'll be firmly sticking with Rock Band, and shan't be tempted by the dark side! :P

The biggest oversight I think with GH:WT is not having the ability to save band mates in band play, that if one person fails, you can't save em and the whole band fails. Rock Band 2 even introduces a no-fail mode that I can speak for playing with my nephews last Christmas and finding it frustrating even with being able to save them, so the no-fail mode is a Godsend.
