Running OSX natively on PC

does anyone have any experience running OSX natively on PC hardware. I've been looking around the internet and most of the blogs are a couple of years old.

Full compatibility is a priority and 10.5 would be the preferred version of OSX but 10.4 would be fine if it saves a lot of hastle.

If there is a currently available model from dell or any other maker that meets the requirements that would be great instead of having to source the parts individually.

The effort required to hack OSX onto a standard PC or laptop is not trivial.
It takes some effort, and a lot of trial and error config changes and lockups.

If full compatibility really is a priority for you ... buy a Mac.

If you want to experiment and don't care about the licensing / legality, there are several online group projects devoted to this topic, some of which have install guides tailored to particular brands/models.

They all rely on cracked installs - some try to be cute and show you how to make your own OSX install disc from a genuine Apple disc ... but the point is moot, running OSX on anything other than an Mac is a breach of the license.

I heard something about someone putting an apple sticker/logo on their PC so it'd qualify as "Apple branded hardware" :D
I was intrigued by the whole 'hackintosh' idea for a while, but my curiosity fizzled out pretty quickly once I started reading about all the fiddly bullshít... I can install linux if I want to spend hours trying to figure out why one thing or another won't work. :pac:
    Macs smell anyway.

Does it have to be native? Why not use VMware to load it?

You must modify the OSX disc for it to install on a pc, which is breaching the EULA anyway...

I was just referring to people trying to be cute... I'm sure the people doing it don't give a rats about the EULA.

You're not allowed to install OS X on non-Apple hardware.
