Sky Signal Quality - freezing picture etc

A relation is having a problem with Sky - intermittant picture freezing/no signal and has had Sky installers out a couple of times to fix the problem - which seems to be related to large trees in the line of sight of the dish combined with wet and windy weather.

Each time Sky come out and readjust the dish the problem goes away for a few weeks (they say they have moved the dish "a little bit higher")

I can understand why the trees could be interfering with reception. What I can't understand is this:

At 7pm tonight the problems occurred again during light rain and wind. Signal quality (according to the Sky + Pace box) was fluctuating every few seconds between about 25% to 50%. But an hour later all problems ceased and picture is fine - BUT..it's still raining and it's still windy - same conditions as earlier.

    Any ideas?

Interference or faulty tuner, esp. fault if old Pace 2500

    Are all channels bad?
(note Level & Quality is only the default Transponder)

Only Quality is important and should be 75%

    Hi Watty

All channels bad (when it happens) (happened for about 10 minutes in the last hour again - no weather change..now back to normal)

How do I tell the type of tuner (nothing on back - it's a white Pace Sky + box with green circle in middle) and version 6 is in the system details via remote control. Edit think its a 3100 having google image searched

Hi, had a similar problem with a panasonic sky box but lately changed to a 2nd hand sky plus box and the channels have been perfect since. Same issues where bad weather would totally screw up the channels in particular channel 4, E4, more 4. Try a friends sky box to see if you get the same probs before you go changing.

    Hope this helps;)

ta for replies. dish too high on roof for me to look at lnb. I'll try another box in the next couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference. otherwise I'll ask Sky to check the lnb.
