Am caught between 2 macbooks, dont know which to buy.Which spec would be better.

    The new 1...

    2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    Keyboard (English) / User's Guide

    Price:$1,299/€1,022

    Or the old 1...

    Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    RAM - 2 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz - PC2-5300 ( 2 x 1 GB )
    Hard Drive - 160 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
    Operating System - Apple MacOS X 10.5
    Screen - 13.3" TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA )
    Optical Drive - DVD±RW (±R DL) - integrated
    Graphics - Intel GMA X3100

The reason the price is in $$$$'s,is that I am going to NYC the end of the month.

Go with the new one, Much cooler looking and better graphics etc. + the Superdrive!

It's more or less costing what a white one would here!

I like the look of the white 1,but I think you are right.

    Anything else to had

I went for one of the new ones and should have it next week. Unless you absolutely need firewire or hate the glossy screen, I don't see why not to go with the new technology - besides looks, the aluminum body will be more robust than the plastic casing, the graphics card is much better and the hard drive/memory are really easy to upgrade yourself later on (though the same applies to the old one, but graphics cannot be upgraded so...). And since you'll be buying it the US, you'll be getting a good deal anyway...

Splurge and get the even faster new AluMB.
    It's got a backlit keyboard! :D

I would definitely go for the new aluminum one. Unless you need Firewire or hate glossy like J-Blk said, i don't see the point in buying tech that is out of date. Good luck with it either way

At the end of the day it's e300 price difference and you'll inevitably have to update it at some stage to avail of various technical and OS updates so you may as well invest the cash in the latest model. :)

FYI, all Macbooks have glossy screens.

The new models also have a 1gig front bus Intel processor fitted as standard and should be easier on battery life and a nippier machine to boot. As far as possible, go for as new a model as you can unless the purse strings are pulling at you.

I would pick the new one for €1299 its newer technology and therefore will be more compatible with future technologies. It also had a better construction, screen etc.

It'll be interesting to see side-by-side in "real life" terms how the new processor compares to my current 2.4Ghz MBP - should know soon enough.
