Hey guys, probably a bit of a weird one for yee, but me and my Dad are trying to get info off an old photo of a gravestone.
We're in the process of compiling a family tree, and are trying to figure out what the date of death is for "Margaret Stuart" on the photo, i'm not all that great with photoshop so i thought maybe enhancing the photo could reveal the date.
    I think it's the 28th of April 1916, but i can't be sure.
The date is on the bottom half of the gravestone under "Margaret Stuart".
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers.
    Al,

I've been playing around with it there the last few minutes, but can't get a whole pile out of it other than what looks like either "15th" or "25th" and "1885" and that that date belongs to Owen Stuart who Margaret Stuart was married to... Don't know what month it is though, I'm afraid!

I thought it said "Infant son" beside Owen. From what I can make of it, it says Margaret died on 16th of April 1916 and her infant son, Owen, died **** 25th 1885. But the 25 should be a month, so I'm probably way off! Good luck anyway!

Thanks guys!, yeah, it's Margaret Stuart we're interested in at the moment, not too worried about Owen the infant son for the time being. From my research and examining the actual picture, we're fairly certain it's April and both me and my Dad think it's 1916, it's the date that had us unsure. The 16th looks probable, even if we can tie it down to a few dates that'd be great.
Thanks for the help lads, much appreciated!

Looks like 18th April 1916 to me. But its hard to be sure. The last digit on the year looks like a 6 but there's no reason to assume the original negative is in good enough condition.

EDIT: Actually could you scan the image. the one posted looks as if it was taken with a camera and may be too soft.

I am almost sure it is the 26th of April

I have sharpned and clarified as much as possible and this is as clear as I can possibly get it. Wife of ******** Owen, I can't figure out the first name, trickery of the picture is making me see love...

It seems to be in an irish grave,do you have any idea where it is?
You mightnt be near it but someone else on the here probly is?
If its near me at all I would happily go looking for it, it is obviously important to you and your father!

dear god sorry I just seemed to have posted a message in completely the wrong forum and I've no idea how that happened (bit tired)

I had a mess about with levels and what not on the photo ...

What I came up with was

28th April 1916 (though depending it can seem quite close to a 1915 as well)

The second date looks like 1883 after some adjustments my initial reaction was that it was a 5 ...

The previous bit I can't make out at all (I'd assume one bit is a month) July would fit ... based on size / letters ... but thats more a guess from some general shapes

Can you rescan the images but just crop on the that part only to save scanning the whole picture??
