Anyone gonna get this next Friday? I'm looking forward to it myself, despite hearing luke-warm reviews. The general consensus so far seems to be that it's not as scary as the old games and there's more of an emphasis on the action.

I wasn't a huge fan of the originals (I think when I played the first I was a bit young to appreciate slow-burners) so at least I won't be doing too much comparing. Besides, when Resident Evil 4 put more emphasis on action over atmosphere it didn't turn out half bad!

Edit: I just heard about the delay :/ It's still down on Gamesnash as being released on the 31st. Boo-urns.

Double edit: Just read that the 'delay' was just a rumour which was squashed by Konami. Happy days!

If it comes out on Friday, I'll get it.

I don't know whether to believe the release date or not...

i used to like silent hill but it let me down to many times, so instead i've opted for dead space and i'm happy i made that choice.

Also, here's a thread on the Silent Hill forum that put an end to the rumour of the delay:

    Hi guys,

We have not been officially told by Konamis Irish distributors that the game has been delayed but it does appear to have been put back to Feb 09. ( We will more than likely be told tomorrow morning !!! ) but considering Konamis own site are now saying coming soon in Feb 09 I think it's a fair assumption.

We don't understand ourselves how this has been pushed back considering it has been out in the USA for a few weeks now and can only assume it had certification issues in Europe

    :(

That sucks. Will you keep us updated?

Good thing there are so many games coming out right now! (Which I guess may be a contributing reason for the delay?)

    Will do !

Hell of a lot of good releases now - then again it is the peak release season. The game has had mixed reviews over in the USA so perhaps a tweak here or there to improve it is also on the agenda.
