I'm running an imac and an ibook.
The imac can't connect to google, (cannot connect to server), all other sites are fine. No such problem with the ibook. Both using same router and worked perfectly for past 2 years. Any ideas?

What web browser are you using? Installed anything lately? Ad blocking software?

Is it the same with other browsers? Firefox, Camino, etc?

Are you sure all other sites are fine? Weird.

Check the dns settings on you imac and compare them to the ibook. You can find them in System Prefs > Network > Airport > Advanced > DNS (this is for Leopard, it's slightly different on Tiger).

I think I found the answer. I'm using peerguardian and had included a webcrawler block which obviously google doesn't like. When I disabled it, everything came back.

    Thanks for interest.

....I am having the same problem as the OP stated. Its driving me bloody mental at this point. I cant access most .coms for some reason, so thats ruling out google yet I can access all .ie, .co.uk etc so who knows. Well I hope someone does. My mac mail then isnt working either keep getting a message about port 995 I think it is. Itunes same story. Weird thing is that it works ok for maybe a day, goes as quick as it came right so it seems to have a mind of its own.

I had a look on the discussions on apple.com ( using my wifes windows machine) and I couldnt really nail down an answer, the point about DNS settings was mentioned there too but I am such a luddite, it might as well say DNA as DNS.

If anyone has any ideas or help, it would be really very much appreciated.

    Mike
