Bar Extension

    Hello,
The Hotel for our Wedding are asking us if we want a bar extension.
We are on a tight budget so are trying to cut out frills if possible at the sametime don't want to seem like a bunch scabs to mates who will have gone to a lot of effort to come along.

But, I suppose anyone who wants a late night can hit the residents bar anyway, if they are staying over.

Anyway I don't drink that much so I don't even notice if it is normal to have a bar extension, so that is the crux of my question?

Standard wedding in a hotel you have been to, did you get a bar extension?
Or have you been to a Wedding without one? And how did it go?

    Thanks a mill.

didnt have one for mine. everyone staying over went into the residents bar. everyone else went home. and a good few snuck into the residents bar. I didnt need one and dont see the need anyway.

We had one, the Res bar was a good bit away from our reception room, which had it's own bar. We just refused to pay the charge for it. They stuck the charge on our final bill but we just told them that we had already discussed this with one of the managers and we were not paying it. They took it off the final bill.

It was worth having, as it kept the wedding crowd together, and out of other users of the resident's bar's way.

I just dont get why hotels charge for the extension. We've been looking at plenty of places that include the extension as standard.

    Hi there,

We had a bar extension at ours and I won't say it was a total waste of money but I don't think it would have made a huge difference if we hadn't had it.
Most people ended up outside once the band were finished up and as a lot of them were staying they had the residents bar.
I dont think anyone would've noticed if we hadn't've had it to be honest.

we had a bar extension at ours- even though we didnt have to pay for it! most people only lived within a few miles of the venue so hardly anyone was staying, stayed going until 4 in the morning, i'd say if there was no bar extension it wouldnt have been half as good!!
