just a note concerning some of the better known camera stores on e-bay!!
out of the ones noted in the sticky Where to Buy Photographic & Associated Products there are several that apparently have ceased trading
    these are:

    UR-Galaxy-Ltd-Photo-Electronics

    Hong-Kong-Supplies

    Chinaarts-Digital-Camera-Company

Obviously the Credit Crunch must be effecting these traders,
I also note that Kea-Photo has very little stock advertised.

I'm wondering are the days of cheaper gear from asia coming to an end :(

Very interesting. As a long time customer of Kea Photo I find it sad to see the much depleted stock that is currently for sale.

Noticed that myself the other day, also it seems that Kerso (AnimalRights favourite thing to yap about) has vanished.

Kerso's shop is still there and fully stocked...

Hong Kong Supplies dont seem closed to me. And there is nothing on the website about closing

Just FYIs, if the mods are going to edit the sticky, I had a good experience with this crowd recently:

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/mydigitaland

Another HK seller. Took a week to ship the order (not typical, I'm assured) but 3 day shipping time made up for it.

    The lens was tip top.

Hong Kong Supplies are still trading, in relation to the others, i recon its more to do with eBay policies than credit crunch

I would suggest the same thing - ebay had to receive tons of complaints from official dealers from expensive countries and counties.

apologies on Hong Kong Supplies page didn't load for me on two different times so I assumed the worst.

anyway i thought it worth noting and perhaps the Mods could reflect this in the sticky

    cheers!!

    :)

More likely it is due to ebay polices , most of the stores you can buy direct and leave out e bay completely, thats what i do with Kea...

Same here. Looked at it the other day while lusting after a lens and was shocked to see it's down to nearly a third of what it was. Hard times for Alberto

I think this guy should be added to the ebay sticky: stores.ebay.ie/shueido. It's a store from Taiwan. Friendly & fast to ship. I've gotten 40d and a 450d from him. The only thing is that the manuals are all in some Asian language.

I thought this to, however when I was looking for my 10-20 Sigma two weeks back I e-mailed Albert asking if he had one and he had it up on sale within 5min :)

I have very good experience with http://stores.ebay.ie/DCTRADE-SHOP
even when UPS lost one shippment they send me another immediatelly (without waiting to cash the insurance before sending)

they don't do what kea or urgalaxy does , but they are the best of the rest

Another experience to add to the list. Recently, had very good experience with ebay retailer t-dimension. Hong Kong retailer - fast shipping, lowest eBay price that i could find on what i was buying. The guys are very flexible in terms of shipping policies and er.., any special requests that you may have in that regard. Shipped goods via Fed Ex - usual track n trace, etc.. They appear to be in 'eBay' business still anyhow. On basis of my personal transaction which included pre-sales queries, I'd have no difficulty in recommending them.

Where tf has all the Camera shops on ebay gone to?

Kea is selling nothing but crap (extenders/etc) theres not even 1 lens.
Kerso is selling nothing but flashguns

    WHATS GOING ON :(:(:(:(

Weird alright. Kea had their full stock displayed the other day, then all of a sudden it shrank to what's there now. I presumed at the time it was just a matter of a lot of auctions ending together and would be re-listed.

Kerso shows as having dozens of lens in stock, filters, batteries flashes etc for me, he seems to be running as normal. Hopefully Kea's issue(what ever it is) is only short term.

I checked kerso an hour ago..none of that was there, only flashguns

I emailed kea and they have decided to stop trading through ebay, they will be setting up their own website instead. No idea when but I hope it'll be soon.

you beat me to it,mailed albert he said the same,he also said to contact him in the meantime if you wish to purchase anything, really happy hes not gone, great value and amazing service from him in the past

I was trying to show a colleague a 450d on Kea today, and thought I was going insane - the thought that they had stopped trading on eBay had never entered my head.

Why have so many camera shops on eBay closed their doors?
