Apologies if this has been asked before, and apologies if its a stupid question.

Looking for a listing of Accounting Firms in Dublin. Ideally incl email addresses. Any ideas where one could get this info- for free- on internet? or is it simply a question of making/printing a list and calling each one?

    Thanks in advance.

Oh- I am also sending out flyers by post/fax etc, and I will be making follow up calls- but obviously email mailshots easier (and cheaper) than buying stamps. Need to get my business up off the ground asap and Accounting Firms are one of my major 'targets'.

Thanks for any info/help in advance...

I know this may not be exactly what you are looking for but did you use goldepages.ie.

Do you mind me asking what exactly is it you do.

Not sure if sending emails (ie unsolicited emails=spamming) would be a good first step approach.

I'd advise against spamming these companies, and never send anyone a mailshot unless they have opted in to receiving that kind of information.

By all means, contact them, but email spamming them would do more harm than good.

    Thanks for the info.

I am a 'freelance' accountant- I want to offer basic bookeeping/payroll services to Accounting Firms- ie I will do the basic stuff for their clients, and leave them concentrate on the higher end work. A girl I was speaking to on another discussion board works for a firm in Cork and she says they would be delighted to hear from someone offering this kind of service. But I am in Dublin- so of course I cant do business with her. And I know some firms have juniors to do this kind of work, and some dont. So its major trial & error....

I have no problem working the phones, but its hard to know who to ask for in this type of situation. So now, knowing the background- any further advice? Thanks

Contact the office managers first and ask for email adresses then send on you're information, it will be better received that way.

I'd doubt if many accountants will give up their bread and butter but I wish you luck.

Hi Jaycen, and thanks for the advice. I know not many will want to pass on business- just hoping to find maybe even one practice that wants to take on new clients to do tax stuff, audit stuff etc, but dont have the resources to do the day to day basics. Means they can build their client portfolio, without having to take on more juniors. I would have thought that might be an attractive prospect? Esp for perhaps a small co with just a couple of partners where the payroll/ day to day debits & credits dont pay that much- compared to the audit & tax stuff. Its just one route I am looking at- but surely I am not completley deluding myself that this might be a possibility??

I work with IT firm clients are regularly looking for bookkeepers especially for holiday cover etc. You might find it better to contact some of the Dublin based Accounting & Payroll software providers.

Hi Nigel- you mean the companies that actually sell the software and provide support? So for example the dublin supplier for Tas books? Sorry to be dense.

Yes all the major brands have resellers who sell and implement their software.
These companies will be asked regularly for advice on book-keepers when staff leave, go on maternity leave or for people who need somebody once a month to finalise accounts.
This isn't a service they normally provide, so they would need someone to recommend

Thanks Nigel- I will give that a go. I appreciate the advice- its so difficult to know what avenues may be profitable and what is just a waste of time. Thanks again.
