    Hahaha.. true..

Apparently it took us 4mins to evacuate the building.

4 mins is plenty of time if there's a slow burning fire, but if there's ever a missile strike you're all fucked.

    Oh excellent, I missed this.

Spending money to be first in with the thread... :shakes head:

Was a bit pointless that all the security guards knew about it and were in place ready to direct us..

thats mad tcd security for ya! wouldnt be able to do anything if they wernt told before hand! i am not a fan

    i am not a fan

Security get a lot of undeserved flack. At times they are incompetent/childish/anal and other things however with some of the things they have to deal with regularly it is in some way to be expected.

However in a serious situation they are and have been fantastic.

For a simple example of this if you are a girl on campus late at night (especially now that it is dark early in the evening) they are more than happy to escort you to your rooms if you ask.

I know and can confidently say I wouldn't still be around had they not acted so quickly the night I had to call them.

edit/ i amnt a girl in case it wasn't clear.

Care to elaborate? If it's not too personal (etc.)...

It happened a few times last year as well that the fire alarm went off in the Hamilton building, but not in the Panoz or the Smurfit (i.e. past the cloakroom). Then security start giving out to you for not evacuating even though you can't hear the alarm...

That toilet that went up last year is still closed.

According to the guy that made the announcement at the end, the drill for the Hamilton Building.. so your end may not have been involved

    what one is that?

The security guard asked me for my student ID and made me wait while he asked me if I spoke English. If it wasn't a drill, I would be up in flames by now. So....I knew it was a drill. Hence, not too worried.

That's because CS students are allergic to the open air.
