3 Best things about Cork

    So I'm posting here again, as I said I've never even been to Cork but really have heard quite a lot of good bout it.

    Also I'm not really on for being negative about it before I even get there so I reckoned why don't you Corkonians think of 3 things you really enjoy/appreciate about Cork?

    Bet everyone will feel good after doing it too!!!

    I don't know it but let me guess from what I've seen so far :

    1. People seem very friendly and helpful

    2. It's close to the Coast

    3. It's not Dublin

    1 It's small enough to be able to walk everywhere

    2 Has most of the same shops as Dublin/other big cities

    3 Good hospital services (Not really appreciated by locals but people from Cavan/Monaghan would understand this)

    2. It's laid back, nothing is taken too seriously.

    3. Near(ish) the coast

    ..so when can we list the 3 things not so great about Cork:)

    When I've been in Cork long enough that the novelty has run off and I know all the crappy things about it but have settled in so well that it won't bother me that you b*tch and moan about the place.

    Deal ?!

    I'm highly educated, my apartment smells of rich mahogany & i have many leather bound books.

    1. You'll always find someone you know in the city.
    2. It's a very attractive little city sometimes.
    3. Thriving cultural community.

    2. Havanas

    You're not serious, are you? Say you're not serious....Please?

    Mine would have to be:

    1) Small enough to walk everywhere;
    2) Good range of nightlife, and some great pubs;
    3) Well connected for travel considering the size of the place

    With a bonus point going to some of the chippers and food places (Istanbul FTW!), and another bonus point going to the Film Festival.

    What other options are there then Havanas? It's bearable...
    The Classics = pretentious & boring
    Bodega = Not really a night club. The bar at the back is nice.
    Cubans = Hell no! unless I have a gun
    Bamboo & Redz = I'm not 16 anymore
    Fast Eddies = Crap hole
    Savoy = Scum bags and over priced
    Mangans = Scumhole
    Liquid Lounge = actually I enjoyed this place last year during d jazz. But it's unknown and no one I know would go there over anyplace else

    Right in the middle of the village. Across the road from Chartbusters.

    Get your arse into The Pavilion man!!! One of my favourite things about Cork!

    1 - Turners Cross...Cork City!!!! (what can you say when you grow up going to the Cross every fortnight in season!)

    2 - Compact size of the city, no real sprawl and so easy concentration of all services and shops in town.

    3 - Most of the people are slat of the earth decent, funny and easy going.

    And of course we must not forget Lennox's, KC's and the Golden Fry (for it's daycent Chicken Marlyland).

    Oh and honourable mention for UCC, CIT and the great Cork slang.

    Ah, your mistake there is in assuming that you must go somewhere, whereas my conclusion regarding nightclubs in Cork was that they were all over-priced, mostly sh*te, and in no cases actually worth the effort, thus I substituted them with late bars and found myself much happier for it.

    I moved here when I was 12 from England and my fave things are:

    The people - small, small world and if I walk down the road everyone gives a nod/smile/some sort of acknowledgement - it's nice.

    Has an airport :D

    The city itself - just the right size, fantastic shopping.
