If you had 50k to invest in yourself, what would you work at?

Must be your own boss. serious answers only please. ( although some funny ones will be entertained). :)

If I had that sort of cushion, it would probably just be something really boring like contracting in IT, rather than PAYE. Like I said - boring, but don't think I'd be qualified for anything else.

Im a long toothed sabre in IT but am looking over the hill and trying to have my interest piqued.

Having said that, how does one go about putting ones-self out as a short term contractor, 8-12 weeks at a go, that type of thing. With the 50k cushion, I could afford to do that and have a better lifestyle and work when I want as long as I keep my eye on the balance.
Is it just a matter of ringing up the agencies and letting them know or just keeping an eye on the job sites?

I'd think it is that easy, once you have the balls to give up full time employment (which I don't have).

In lots of IT markets, contracts normally become more available as the economy goes south because companies don't want to take on full time staff and just want someone in on a fixed term project. I don't know how true that is for Ireland though.

I'd probably jump into some game-production type of business. Maybe not even games, but rather just game engines.

Other then that I'd love to take up marketing.
