License just after coming through

Local firearms officer rang yesterday from the local station to say that my .223 Tikka lite (first rifle) license has come through and I can pick it up...only applied for it 4 weeks ago....came through so fast that I didn't even manage to get the scope yet.....

    So my plan is

    1/ Buy a S&B 8x56 (H) scope up north retailing at £500
2/ Give it to gunsmith and get him to zero it in
3/ I'm not going to go mad calling foxes, going to practise on a few targets and take things handy. Reading R Bucknells books last night and it's all about practise practise first, then go out with someone and observe, when one feels ready start lamping yourself

I will keep everyne up to date on the progress

My only bit of advice is to mount and zero the scope yourself. If you go on youtube, midway USA have a channel with a load of videos on how to do this, they have a great one on how to zero too.

    See here

A gunsmith will not know how far forward or back to put the scope on the mounts (so the eye relief is spot on) to suit you.

Also you will have learned the skill yourself which is much better.

Actually I have a second bit of advice get sako optilock mounts.
