Ok I have read so much from you guys that the Tubescreamer is the way to go. So I have decided to write my letter to Santa looking for one, but which one the TS9, TS7, TS808, a modded pedal?

For your information I play a strat and looking for a little overdrive to make my chords a bit crunchier, whilst giving my lead playing a nice tone.

    Tried Tubescreamer. Nice.

Got this. Much nicer by a measurement scientists have yet to invent a graph big enough to chart ;)

    So long, Tubescreamer.

also look at the Xotic BB preamp or BB+ nice transparent pedal see you tube for a demo from Andy Timmons.

I've got the BB+ on my pedal board stacked with a Fulltone OCD v4

BB premap is kinda similar to the fulltone, but i prefare the fulltone a little more,

never tried the keeley tubescreamers but they've got great reviews, nothing bad, but whatever keeley does everyone likes so there ya go!

the mohomods multi-screamer is the mother of all tubescreamers, id kill someone for one of them

Try the MXR GT-OD, or the BBE Green Screamer. Both similar to tubescreamers.

Personally, I'd go for either of those (probably the MXR) rather than some very expensive boutique thing.

I bought the BBE (tube) Screamer for about €70 fron USA seller on ebay and it does exactly what it says on the tin. True bypass too......i tried it in the chain without a battery and siganl does go to the amp. Unlike some others who falsely claim this.......like Morley, who make the Vai wah etc.

Voodoo, you don't like the boutique stuff, do you...:)
If you don't mind me asking, what is your setup?

I like all kinds of stuff, theres great gear at every price range these days. And I have plenty of stuff that would be considered high-end, or 'too expensive'... but that doesnt mean that you have to recommend high-end gear in every circumstance or thread.

If you just want a great sounding TS-type OD pedal, you don't need to buy something handmade or modded or whatever. There's great pedals in the 'normal' price range.

Now, if you want to go and spend €200+ on a od pedal, great. More power to you, and enjoy it. But I was just saying that if you want a great one, you don't need to spend that kind of cash.
