    Circles?
Did the NARGC office not give you contact details for the secretary of each regional body? Have you contacted them, they should be able to forward you a list of clubs relevant to your area/interests.

yes they gave me a contact in my area, Sent him off a cv of my previous shooting experience in 2006 my brother done it for this season and still havent herd back from him.

Ive been a member of a gun club but it had to close for the building of houses, We do have a lot to offer a gun club im young ish and have been shooting for over ten years i also have a 2 year old springer and a 6 month old sprocker. but no one wants to no unless your related to a member or known someone within the club,

It's a very unfortunate situation for people looking to join a club.
You really have to be in the know, the only way in to most clubs is to be related to or friends with someone who can vouch for you directly and plead you case.

There's also the clubs perspective, from a Dublin point of view most clubs are packed to capacity, two clubs have 70+ members and 100+ members respectively and the amount of ground every club has is shrinking. Some clubs exist in name only as they have no land left to shoot within Dublin. These clubs are looking to preserve the club they have left for their current members. More hunters cramming into less and less ground will eventually lead to an accident.

It's probably also a case that some clubs are looking to reduce their headcount as they're over subscribed. As you all know most people only leave one way.

    Just my personal opinion.

As I have said before it's difficult to get into any club without knowing somebody. :o

The only advice I can give is get an introduction face to face, try local shooting grounds hardwares and farmers.

I came back from England, to Cavan and after two years got into the local club by introduction through my neighbours. Once your in the Craic is mighty, of course there are a few wasters but don't let that get you down.

Clubs in Dublin are loosing ground left right and center, clubs down the country won't let you in unless you are in the parish or have ties to the parish. I see some clubs are even introducing associate membership.

If you really want to shoot get some permissions as others have done, if the club as sense and you've permissions they'd be mad not to take your membership (you can shoot their birds anyway???)

    Dont give up.

No you "just cant win" is right. As most on here would agree, getting into a gunclub is harder than geting into Foth Know dreesed as binladen (yes he is still out there ). But I myself am of the opinion tht all clubs can go take a running jump. I say this cause they are not helping the future of the sport by making it difficult for new hunters to get started. We(allof us) should be of the mindset to help all hunters be it each other or new hunters. We have enough problems in realtion to our sport from those unemployed hippy's with nothing better to do than protest about anything and everything, So we should all be helping each other and sharing our information and skills with each otherand new hunters.

    Good night John boy!
    Night Sue ellen!
