Thats pretty good. I use 28grm 7.5 and 32grm 6 GBs for clays and pigeons. Cheap and good killing power. I use something dearer for pheasants to get a clean kill.

I got cheap ones before. I think they were called Fiocchi or something? In any case, I ended up pricking lots of birds so I just used them for clays and even at that they kept misfiring

Personally I wouldn't use them. I've seen them used at shoots and you could hear the pellets hitting the clays without breaking them. The Eley Supreme are a much better shell but they are dearer.

I'm paying the same money for Diana and they are a good shell.

€172 per 1,000 - €8 cheaper than down here. It's ok if you live near there but not worth making a trip for. Any idea what sort of money they are charging for Eley Supreme?

Strange, I always found Fiocchi a good hard hitting game cartridge. Having said that I had similar problems with the Eley pigeon loads while a lot of lads swear by them.

Maybe the ones I got were stored in the damp or something resulting in the missfires??

Could have been a bad batch that slipped by quality control. Earlier in the year I had a run of Eley Match EPS .22lr rounds fail to go off. They're a good round normally but for some reason some of them were not properly primed.

Even with good quality ammo you can see a significant variation from batch to batch in .22lr rounds. Most will be fine but occasionally you'll get a batch which performs strangely even if you store and handle them correctly. I presume it's similar with shotgun cartridges.

I might be a bit paranoid but I have the impression that recently the quality of cartridges has declined a bit.

The price of the raw materials has been up in the last few years. Maybe some manufacturers are skimping on the construction or the QA.

Conor, I was thinking something down those lines.
