I'm Never Full

Ok, before I start, I would like to say that I do not want any "I wish that was me" or "you're lucky" comments that I usually recieve from women/men alike.

I'm a 23 year old male and at 6 foot, I weigh between 10 1/2 and 11 stone. Used to weigh around 12 stone up until 4 years ago, when I went to America and lost close to a stone out there. I haven't been able to put it back.

No matter what I eat, or how much eat, I just can't gain weight. And no matter who I tell this to, they always expect me to feel lucky. No, I don't. I hate being referred to as "scrawny" or "thin". I would love to gain weight, in moderation, but I can't.

And the drawback to it is that I don't think I've ever felt full. I don't even know what that feels like. As strange as that may sound. An example; last week I was out with college friends at a restaurant. We all ordered full irish breakfasts. I had mine finished before they were all half way through theirs. When they finished theirs, they felt full, but I was still starving- I even ate what they had left/didn't like and I still wanted to eat more.

So - is there something wrong with me?

You're not going to get any definitive answers to that. People's metabolisms vary.

If you want to gain weight (I'm assuming you mean in terms of muscle mass, not fat) then you need to get a diet and bodybuilding program together and stick to it. This will mean consuming lots and lots of protein and working out 3-4 times a week.

Bodybuilding.com has loads of guides and tips if you want to check it out.

Hit the fitness forum if ya wanna gain weight. I went from 11st last June, and now I'm 13st 9lbs, and look completely different. Its worth the effort.

There might be, so go talk to your doctor.

I used to be like you when I was your age - I'm 30 now. My solution was a combination of a lot of healthy eating + weight gainers like Maximuscle's Progain.

Progain helped me put on about 1/2 stone a month.

I combined this with a lot of weights and got very big. :)

some people take ages to fill out, it didnt happen me till I was 25,I had the exact same problem but now its the complete opposite problem, my metabolism has slowed down so much in 2 years that I need to excersise and eat healthy not to get fat(I was always the lanky skinny bloke).
Perhaps you could try creatine , Read up about it first though, and be sure and excersise alot of you go down that road, but it definitely gives people alot of mass.
maybe this should be moved to fitness forum for better advice.

What do you think creatine is going to do wylo?
Don't take creatine op that's not going to help you at all. If you are seriously concerned it might be a medical issue you could go to your doctor and see if you have worms. Otherwise, eating more is the simple answer. I guess as an experiment you could eat a 12inch pizza one night and see how you feel, then the next night a bigger one, until you do actually feel full. Also if you are putting the food away really quickly you might not be giving yourself a chance to feel full, try eating a bit slower.
Finally what exercise or activities do you do?

Seeing as this is PI and all can this please be edited because it is really bad advice. Creatine will not make you bigger, working hard in the gym and consuming an amount of calories in excess of your basic daily needs will allow you put on healthy weight over a period of time.
