I dont know if this is in the right section, But Im thinking of getting a Home theatre PC. Ill have the TV on one wall in the room and have this new PC on the other side of the room.

My question is if can I watch a dvd and someone use the computer at the same time?

    Thanks

P.S the unit is a Sony VGX-TP25E Home Theater PC

I would totally recommend building one, i built one about 3 months ago and enjoy HD veiwing to a band beating!

As regards your query on using the PC whilst someone else is watching a DVD, i believe it can be done. You will need to look into a dual monitor set-up etc. I'm not an expert but if you check out avfourms the home pc section there are loads of posts on this topic.

    Hi,

First of all yep you are in the right place. I mightn't be the right person but will add my two cents.

That unit is very expensive for what you get, don't forget what your buying is a PC, they change, need to be upgraded etc.

The other thing is have a think about the cables you will need and the locations of them. For example when your watching DVDs/ playing music from the computer do you want sound only on your TV or on another system e.g. surround sound/hifi etc.

If it was me I would build one or take a look at http://www.mediacentre.ie/ultimate-media-centre.html to give you an idea as
to the features and price of what you can get built. Just an example as I haven't bought from them but they post and help on this
    forum.

Perhaps spell out your requirements are of a HTPC and the helpful folk here no doubt will have suggestions and advice for you.

For example - music, DVD, Blue Ray, TV recording. If the latter list the source i.e. ntl/sky etc....

    Cheers,
    Majj
