Is there any other way to set up Sky Remote Record without having to connect the box to a phone line?

I've been using remote record for ages. Record signal is sent via dish. I think I may have hooked it up just to register but apart from that box has never been hooked up to phone line.

I don't have an active phone line so if I connect it up I don't think it would work that way. Can I register it by calling Sky?

I can't remember if I registered my landline number with Sky when the box was installed. In any case when I set up remote record I'm pretty sure that the number had changed (moved to Smart telecom) and I hadn't informed Sky. So if you have a friend with sky and a landline you may well be able to register for remote record at their house.

If a friend was to do it for me what info do I need to give them?

Sorry can't really remember - I'm pretty sure they'll need the number of the mobile you're planning to use for remote recording.

Just another quick question...if I was to do it at a friends house do they have to have Sky+ or will a normal Sky box be ok?

I'd say it'd be alright if they just had Sky - you might have to bring your box over though?? I think you'll also need your mysky login details too.

Sorry if I'm a bit sketchy on the details it was a long time ago! maybe one of the regulars on here eg Tony/Byte/Watty could give you better advice.
