    ....but in Space !! :)
    Brad Pitt Embarks on Odyssey

Brad Pitt, Warner Bros. and George Miller are set to bring Homer's epic poem The Odyssey to the big screen, according to Variety.

The actor and studio last teamed up back in 2004 to adapt Homer's other famous poem - The Iliad - which became the rather dreadful Troy.

They are set to transfer the story, which revolves around Odysseus' long journey home following the Trojan War, to a futuristic setting in outer space.

George Miller is set to direct, presumably whenever he gets Justice League made. Pitt meanwhile has Terrence Malick's Tree of Life and Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds on his slate.

Anyone else thinking this after reading that?

Could be awesome - could be cack.

On the actual film, it really depends on what sort of sci fi setting they go with. ultra realistic, star wars fantasy? or something in between.

I wonder will it involve some amazing looking spaceship like the one they had in Ulysses 31? Always found the designs in that show facinating :D

That is exactly what I thought. Loved Ulysses 31. It could be good. For some reason I've got an image of the sphere in The Fountain floating through space. Those scenes looked fantastic.

I would still like to see an original though. I thought that they might have done one after Troy with Sean Bean. He was pretty good as Ulysses.

As someone who has actually read the Odyssey, I believe that Pitt would be a disaster in the role.

Did you read it in the original Greek?

I've read it too but remember it's not exactly going to be a straight adaption. It could work and Pitt is a good actor in my opinion. Still, Sean Bean would be much better. I think he's terrific though he hasn't had the best run of roles.

I wonder if Miller and Warner Bros are aware of Ulysses 31...surely they'd have to be? Or else they'll find themselves in a difficult legal situation further down the line.

Second that! Love the design of the ship.

Now all I need is live-action adaptions of Mysterious Cities of Gold plus Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea, and ill then be a happy camper :)

I seem to be the only one unnerved by that one statement. Outer space like? Ok could be an interesting adaption but I'm extremely doubtful of this. Look at the travesty that was troy for the love. Then again Pitt has come up trumps in roles before.

Hahaha yeah totally thought of Ulysses31 when I read that line.:p

Still I'll remain skeptical until it's done and on screen.

IN SPACE! seems the logical route for any franchise.

I'd prefer this aswell. Still, I'd like to see a Ulysses 31 version. Maybe they could do both? History repeats itself for one family...
