Facing the possibility my mark 3 1300 xflow may be to far gone to repair. My question is what engines are compatable to the cortina that maybe just slot in with minimal alterations. Cheers

Yep,the pinto comes in 1600 and 2litre flavours, not sue of the match to the 1300 gearbox, though you could fit a type9 five speed too, though then your rear axle ratio may be wrong....hmm:p
Corktina will know all the answers i would think?

well if its a straight swap you want, a xflow from a Capri or escort would do you...(Mk2 cortina would need the sump and other bits changing....) May as well go 1600 if you can whilst you are at it..

swapping in a Pinto or even a cologne v6 isnt exactly difficult but would need a little more work and the right parts,,,,

My advice would be to find a dead Cortina with a pinto in it OR a mk4/5 cortina V6...all the bits should just bolt in then. (Use the axle too!)
