Computers?

Hi,
Bit of a stupid question but I'll ask anyway! Is there any computers in college I could use to go on the internet and print out something? Or would I have to bring in a laptop? Would I have to book a computer? Thanks

There are computer rooms in the Hamilton. I've never used them (always just used the CS computer rooms) but I've seen a sign for them. When you go in through the ground floor entrance beside the stairs...keep going to the wall ahead and when you reach it, there's a sign on the door to your left that says "Hamilton computer rooms".

I've never gone through that door, but the sign would indicate that there are computers in there. Check it out

Yeah there are computers down there... tend to be fairly busy. You can access the internet there and all, too. As far as printing things goes... Someone mentioned something about buying a printing card in the library for printing stuff, so there's definitely printing services in the library(s). Not sure about other computer rooms.

There are plenty of computers man, they're not great but they get the job done. Except for the ones outside the library in the Hamilton. Protip for printing: Go to the ISS building. There's a machine thing on the wall next to the computers and it's 5c per page. The machine accepts €1 and €2 coins.

Ah that's helpful Im mostly around the Hamilton thanks Does anyone know if there's any in the library?

In the hamilton library there are none that you are allowed surf the internet on. haven't been in the other one but I presume it's pretty much the same

Ah that's what I thought they seem to just be the library catalogue ones. I hate those ones outside the library and the ones near the Cocker Lab

You do have to pay for the printing tho.

When you go in through the door described by Mark, on the wall on the right is the machine for toping up your account..

Your account is your student number, all the instructions are on the wall above the machine
its only 5c or so per page..

The computers on the ground floor of the Hamilton library are normal college computers that you can use to access the Internet, you log in with your college username and password. There's also the computer that is directly ahead of you if you come down the stairs from the top floor of the library, it says something like "Visiting Readers PC" but it's always logged on and it's what I use for google/wikipedia/etc when I'm in the library... There is no printing however as far as I know, for that you'd have to use one of the normal computer rooms and pay for a printing card...

OR...

If you're in Maths/Science you can also use the Maths computers which if of dubious hygiene are more reliable than normal college computers, and have free printing (to printer 19-11). Not recommended if for some peculiar reason you're afraid of Linux/Unix though...
