Just wondering how the departure tax announced in the budget will affect those of us who use Knock Airport and already have to pay €10 to leave the place? Will we be forced to pay the departure tax and the Knock Airport 'development fee'?

    Yep.

Every airport has it's own set of charges that they make to the airlines on a per passenger basis, but they call it taxes to confuse people into thinking it's governent charges. Now the government has decided to get in on the action as well is the only difference. Your probably still paying less to fly out of Knock than you are to go through the other airport on your return flight though. The Irish airport chages actually seem pretty low compared to a lot of others I've passed through in the rest of Europe.

I've already had it added to some Ryanair flights that I've booked for the middle of next year. It applies to any flights from the 1st January I belive, so there may be cases where people have to pay an extra tenner at the airport if they had booked flights for next year before the budget.
