Just had to say goodbye to someone i worked with for 8 years today and i swear to god you'd think they'd died with the mood ive been in all afternoon. He used to be my boss years ago and was instrumental in helping me get my career off the ground and im absolutely gutted he's leaving. Hes retiring and heading home to new zealand and i cant get over how upset i am. In a strange way even though he was only a work colleague, he always looked out for me (kinda like a grand dad type thing).

Have i lost the plot altogether or has anyone really missed anyone theyve worked with?

*no its not the time of the month before anyone asks

Did you bang him before he left?

Well, we spend more time with co-workers than our own families (or something to that effect) so it's just natural to miss them when they leave.

Ah yeh i know, never has anyone deserved to retire to such a nice place as he does...its just am stuck with all the other idiots in here now and not one of them are even a patch on him.

Ill get over it...a few glasses of wine and a wee trip down memory lane looking through my facebook photos and ill be grand tomorrow.

OP, sounds like you have Stockholm Syndrome.
